KISS Farewell Tour Reviews

From: John Perez
Let me be the first to say to all Kiss fans out there, that this farewell tour is a MUST. I drove up from Key West in a driving hail storm just to see my Kings of the Nighttime World perform, and let me tell you, it was worth everybit of it. These Kings of rock JAMMED. I arrived at the amphitheatre about 6 PM, just in time to catch a scalper, in the middle of the pouring rain mind you, to conveniently upgrade my tickets. I went from row 50 something to row 11 in a matter of seconds. I was pleased with the Kiss transaction, as I was hit with the confetti at the end of the monster show. We found our seats and were glad we were up close, and on Gene's side, We wanted BLOOD!!!! Skid Row came on to a crowd of about a thousand. People were still out in the concession areas, and parking lot was still full of Kiss partygoers trying to get in the last bit of cheap alcohol and smoke their thing. Skid was ok i guess. I've never seen them, or heard them, so I couldn't tell you on a fair basis what they sounded like. But from what I saw in the crowd, they were pleased. Oh, I almost forgot, one of Skid's guitar players accidently fell down while reaching for his stool. The man had a cast on his foot and was therefore making it hard to get around on stage. Then came Ted. He rocked, did the Cat Scratch thing and went about his business. Ted will always be Ted. The man is definitely politically incorrect. Let's get to the main event. We were out getting food, when we here we here the intro theme, and it was like roaches when you turn the light on. People scattered to their seats. We snuggled into our seats, then the curtain popped off with a bang that would stop a heart. It took us a few seconds to discover that Kiss was decending from the rafters, It was a surprise intro for them. Usually they announce YOU WANTED THE.......then pop the curtain. Only thing wrong i saw from this was, they should of started DRC on their way down. But other than that, we were pleased. DRC slid right into SHOUT IT OUT....the place was rocking, I couldn't think straight. Then Paul does his HOW YA DOING WPB......Deuce lit up the night sky, the pyro was unbelievable. They went all out for us. This was the concert that was supposed to happen back when they did the Suberbowl. So I guess they spared no expense at showing us their best time possible. We were 15,000 strong and Paul made it CLEAR that they loved each and every one of us. I felt like it was the end. As for Kiss, it is the begginning to the end. So sad! Any way all the songs were on. HEAVEN'S ON...jammed. The flames were hot. The crowd went nuts on I LOVE IT.....In my opinion, this song kind of slow, it sounded out of sync, but stl it was on. Paul flew, drums rised, Gene flew. The whole concert was perfect just like they were filming it, or recordiing ALIVE 5. I WISH!! The crowd was greeted to tons of confetti at the end, and the ending pyro was phenonemal. Ace looked good, he shed some pounds. Gene was Gene. Paul was flawless, and was always reassuring the crowd. Peter, wel he was a different story. He had no pizazz. Everytime the big screen would show him, he was never smiling or seeming interested. Maybe it's his time. WelL let's hope this really isn't the end to Kiss, the greaTest band in the world. ReportiNg to you live from Key West..PEACE.
