KISS Farewell Tour Reviews

From: Scott Floyd
On April 8, 2000 Katharine Scarlett Floyd turned two years old. I brought her to Mars Music Stadium for her birthday to throw her a party. Well 15,000 people showed up including KISS.

Skid Row- I was still parking the car. Never even heard'em.

Ted Nugent- Only saw his final tune. Got to see him shoot his guitar with a flaming arrow for his finalle. Great Confederate Flag shirt.

Missed most of Ted because of the shitty way the merchandise booths were being run. Two tiny booths stormed by people with absolutly no sort of order. They should have a 'CASH ONLY' line and another line for the idiots who want to take forever with their friggin' credit cards.

Now for the main show. What was all this crap I was hearing about Peter being old, hurt, sick, and broken down? He rocked out. He had about a thirty second drum solo during Black Diamond, he was smiling through the whole show, sang Black Diamond and Beth, went up on the riser with the smoke breathing leopards, and didn't miss a beat the whole night. All he wore was a pair of gloves. I didn't see any arm braces at all. Peter had a GREAT night, my hat's off to him.

ACE RULES!!! Of course I've been saying this for twenty years, but it's worth saying again. There ain't a guitar player on the whole Oz Fest that can even touch him. His 2000 Man solo was worth the ticket price alone if ya ask me. (Have you guessed yet Ace is my favorite member?) I also liked the way Ace and Gene are sharing the vocals on Cold Gin. Ace's solos for every song were loud, blazing and on the money. The only time I heard a screw up was on the final solo of Cold Gin. He had a note or two go out of whack, but you know what, who cares? Ace played like he was twenty years old.

Paul was Paul and Gene was Gene. During the Cold Gin guitar interlude Gene gave Ace a simulated blow job (and it was Paul I always wondered about!). Paul did a sort of Reverand Stanley thing "We won't heal the lame or make the blind see, but the Holy Spirit of Rock and Roll is upon you West Palm Beach! Hallelujiah!!" During the sermon Ace and Gene sort of did a do-see-do dance.

All the special effects and riggings worked perfectly. Ace shot the lights out with his rockets, Gene flew, fireworks, flames, spinning spark wheels, Paul went out to the middle of the crowd, and Peter's drum set rose twice.

Any complaints? Well I would have liked to have heard 'Parasite', but to hear finally for the first, (and last) time 'Let me go, Rock and Roll' live more than made up for that. I've seen KISS six times and that was always one of my favorite songs, I thought they had forgotton about it. By the way what the heck happened to 'Strutter'?. This was the first KISS concert I've been to when Strutter wasn't played. One hell of a night. It was great to see my favorite band one more time, and my wife and daughter saw them for the first time.

Thanks KISS for EVERYTHING.
