How-to Music Series Featured on 'Detroit Rock City' DVD
From: Video Store magazine via Mike Hogan
Video Store magazine November28-December4 1999 pg16:
When New Line Home Video's "Detroit Rock City" reaches retail late next month, the DVDs will contain something for the aspiring guitarists among KISS fans. Among the extras on the disc is a lesson on how to play the KISS hit, "Rock and Roll All Nite", from Tommy Anthony, a regular instructor on the Warner Bros. Publications' "SongX-press" video series. The 30-tape series itself gets plugged on the "Detroit Rock City" cassette, due in January. The DVD how-to should do double duty, boosting sales of a movie that performed indifferently at the box office while serving to introduce "SongXpress" to video retailers. - By Seth Goldstein. Mike Hogan also adds that the VHS version of Detroit Rock City will have a street date of Jan. 11th 2000, doesn't have a pay-per-view window yet, and the movie did 4.2 million at the box office to date.

Diamonds In The Rough: "Being the Manager -- Second Thoughts"
From: KISS ASYLUM
As many of you may recall, a couple months back KISS ASYLUM printed my article, "If You Were The Manager, suggesting changes for the band. Within less than a day I was deluge with email about the article. It was the most I had ever received on one of my articles and it took me six weeks to respond to everyone. Many fans had their own comments to add and their voices were so strong, not to mention that many of their ideas were so good, that I felt it was worth devoting a follow-up article to their reactions. In fact, I like to think that the response Chris and I received on the article led directly to the new feature here at ASYLUM (KISS Army Sound Off!) where fans are voicing their opinions loud and clear. So much so, that I wondered at first if there was even a point in doing a follow-up article. Still, fans that wrote in touched on a few topics that I failed to cover in the original article, which gave me a good reason to do the follow-up. Click Here To Read Dale's Follow Up Article About "Being The Manager!"

Fan Feedback: "What Should KISS Do Next?"
From: KISS ASYLUM
With KISS' New Year's Eve Alive IV concert right around the corner, KISS ASYLUM wanted to get feedback from online fans on whether or not they wanted to see '82-'97 era KISS songs included in the set list. While the latest edition of the poll did experience some technical problems resulting in the loss of some votes, the poll still got a strong response from fans, who were very much in favor of adding the '82-'97 material to the set list to represent KISS from throughout their career. The complete poll results are as follows: Yes 75.6% (2132 Votes) - No 21.4% (605 Votes) - Not sure 2.9% (83 Votes)

Dale Sherman's "Being The Manager" articles sure have hit a chord with online fans. In conjunction with Dale's latest "Diamonds in the Rough" column we wanted to get online fans' thoughts on KISS' current direction. Is it the right time for Alive IV, or do you think KISS should concentrate their efforts on something else? Perhaps KISS should concentrate on a new tour and then record Alive IV after they have been on tour for a while? KISS' long form home videos have always been big sellers, maybe KISS should focus on putting out a live concert video? Or perhaps KISS should concentrate their efforts on a new studio record? Maybe the time is right for KISS to put out the infamous "KISS Box Set" ? Over the past half year, online fans have been very critical of KISS' recent decisions, and now as 1999 comes to a close KISS ASYLUM wants to know what the KISS Army Online thinks KISS should do next! If you had YOUR choice on what the band would do next what would you like to see? Click over to www.kissasylum.com/poll/ to cast your vote and make your opinion heard. Also, don't forget to post up your comments about "What KISS Should Do Next" on KISS ASYLUM's KISS Army Online bulletin board at www.kissasylum.com/bbs/

KISS Prowler Inside Story/Webpage Launch!
From: KISS ASYLUM
Well everyone, the time has come. Nowell Herman, President of The Official Prowler Club, has put together an absolutely awesome presentation on the KISS Prowler to share with everyone. Yes, that elusive machine many thought would never see the light of day in fandom was won by a KISS fan at the end of the Psycho Circus contest as promised. Unfortunately the original winner was unable to keep the car due to the fact that the winner was required by law to pay all applicable taxes on the vehicle upon receipt. Given that KISS had valued the car at approximately $75,000 the "lucky" winner was looking at a nasty dance with the tax man and quite simply couldn't afford to keep the car. Thus, Nowell was presented with the opportunity to own perhaps the most unique KISS collectible ever made. Being both a Prowler enthusiast and a KISS fan, he of course lept at the chance. And in true KISS fan style, Nowell knew this was something he couldn't keep to himself and wanted to do whatever he could to share this killer KISS car with all his fellow fans. So, on his Prowler Club webpage he has put together in great detail just about every piece of information you could ever want to know about the KISS Prowler, including: a biography of the car that traces it from "birth" to its purchase by Nowell, including all the interesting details; a photo gallery, which includes scans of the original Prowler car & trailer titles signed by Gene Simmons; original car & trailer design/build sheets; and a video gallery so you can see the Prowler in action! Additionally, the KISS Prowler will grace the cover of the Official Prowler Club's spring issue of Prowlin' Times magazine, which will include a detailed article and photos about the KISS Prowler. This is a first rate magazine with all color, heavy stock, high gloss pages. There is also an official KISS Prowler Limited Edition Poster, and KISS Prowler video (or CD-ROM) available as well. And though the winner of the car kept the Gene Simmons Axe bass to give to his brother as a gift, Nowell does have the original Paul Stanley Washburn guitar that came with the Prowler and has put it up for sale. Is the price right for you? Well you better check it out because there's only one and once it's gone, it's gone! Finally, there is a poll on the Prowler Club webpage to see if KISS fans would be interested in buying an awesomely detailed 1/18th scale model of the KISS Prowler & music box trailer from well known model maker ANSON.

KISS ASYLUM's Dale Sherman Interview

Recently KISS ASYLUM took a moment to catch up with Dale Sherman, author of KISS books "Black Diamond" and "Black Diamond 2", to talk about what Dale has been up to and about his upcoming KISS book project "A World Without Heroes." For those unfamiliar with "A World Without Heroes," it was first introduced to the Internet as an online novel here at KISS ASYLUM, and now with the help of MusiCare Online has been turned into a full blown novel and soundtrack with the sales proceeds going to cancer research in Eric Carr's name. Dale talks about all this and more in his latest KISS ASYLUM interview!. Click Here To Read The Interview!

Eric Carr Tribute Radio Special - 11/26/99
From: Steve Ponchaud
The Eric Carr Tribute Radio Special is 3 solid hours of nothing but non-makeup era KISS music, songs from 'Rockology', interviews with Bruce Kulick, Loretta Caravello, Jack Sawyer, David Snowden, and possibly Bill Aucoin (not confirmed yet). We will also be giving away KISS 'Headliner' statues and Rockology CDs compliments of David Snowden Promotions' www.kissshop.com, Rockheads T-Shirts, 'Tale of the Fox' videos and more surprises. As a 20 plus year fan of KISS, it is my honor to do this tribute to a great drummer, singer, songwriter, and all around artist, Eric Carr; as well as shining a spotlight on some KISS music that often gets swept under the rug or dismissed. Not only will you hear the hits, but plenty of obscure stuff from ALL the non-makeup albums. The show is Friday, November 26 from 8pm-11pm Central time on 93.1 and 94.1 K-Rock based out of Iron Mountain, Michigan. The coverage area is much of the Upper Penninsula of Michigan and most of Northeastern Wisconsin. The station's website is www.rocktalk.com, look under K-ROCK ARENA. "A World Without Heroes" Soundclips and Ordering Info
From: Kathy Labonte
CHAPTER 24 - I "....and a bolt of lightning"
It's been a couple of weeks since we've had a soundclip up for the World Without Heroes Soundtrack. We began taking pre-orders for this project and have been busy processing all the paperwork. The impending release of this Book/Soundtrack is really getting exciting and a lot of people are getting geared up for it. The time is now to order at: www.musicareonline.org This week's audio sample is performed by Creatures of the Night, a KISS Tribute Band based in Wisconsin where the Children's Hospital is located (where KAOL has been donating its profits to since we started making these Tribute CDs). What sets these guys apart from other tribute bands is that they use an Eric Carr instead of a Peter Criss and their stage show, based on the Creatures of the Night Tour, features Eric's drum kit on a Sherman Tank drum riser. They've joined KAOL on this project with their big studio production of "I" for Chapter 24. They'll also be joining us next year to play live when we make our presentation of the KAOL/Eric Carr plaque at the hospital. Several of you have already pre-ordered your Book/Soundtrack to have your name printed inside as a member of the KISS Army OnLine. But we've only just begun - we've got until December 31st to collect names and orders!! We are now offering 3 ways to order, including instantly with your credit card. It has never been easier to purchase music from the KISS Army Online! Visit our order page for more details about how you can pre-order YOUR copy. Behind The Scenes Story of the KISS Army
From: Steve Stierwalt / KISS Freaks
At the end of October 1999, I met up with Bill Starkey, the Founder of the KISS Army. I`ve known Bill now for about three years so I have heard him tell a lot of KISS stories and everytime they are still great to hear. Bill has always enjoyed attending the KISS Expos to meet fans that want to hear the stories. I had been discussing a video with him for sometime, but we both have had a busy year. Finally we found the time. The basis besides enjoying his company was, to get some of his stories on video so people can experience his experiences. The video was produced for an upcoming show on VH1. Details to come on that later. In the video, Bill talks about some of the positive things that happened to him during the 70`s, as KISS was turning the corner to be the mega-band they are now. Its kind of a mix between an interview/story teller type production.

Sadly, our signal is not heard online. Thanks again to KISS ASYLUM for making this show possible.

Fan Feedback: "Should KISS include songs from the '82-'97 era of KISS on KISS Alive IV?"
From: KISS ASYLUM
Without a doubt the hottest KISS topic in the news today concerns KISS' New Year's Eve show in Vancouver, where KISS will record the historic "KISS Alive IV!" The first two KISS Alive albums only included songs that showcased the previous albums' songs live, with no overlapping. This trend was broken with KISS Alive III, where KISS included songs that spanned their entire career instead of just highlighting the songs that were released after the previous live album. Unlike the last 3 live albums, KISS has only 2 studio albums (and only 1 with the original members) since the last live effort. Because of this it seems highly unlikely that KISS would only spotlight songs from those two albums, but rather will most likely spotlight songs from their entire career -- much like the formula they used on KISS Alive 3.

But the catch here is should the band only spotlight the material that the "original band" played on, or do they spotlight the "entire career" of KISS, including material from '82-'97? KISS ASYLUM want to ask the KISS Army Online, "Should KISS include songs from the 1982-1997 era of KISS on KISS Alive IV?" Click over to www.kissasylum.com/poll/ to cast your vote and make your opinion heard. Also, don't forget to post up your comments about " '82-97' era KISS songs on Alive IV" on KISS ASYLUM's KISS Army Online bulletin board at www.kissasylum.com/bbs/

Psycho Circus: The Nightmare Child Game News
From: Dante / PsychoNews.com
Third Law Interactive recently gave a showing of the game at the big Hallowe'en bash that was held by The Gathering in New Orleans. Rave reviews came in from everyone who witnessed what the game had to offer. Here's a quote from Gamespy: "Third Law was also on hand with KISS: Psycho Circus, which was looking as good as ever. I recently previewed it, so I won't rehash much of that here, except to say that it's the strongest-looking Lithtech property yet, and I'm really looking forward to it." Reviews of the bash can be found at the following sites. These reviews also talk about The Nightmare Child as well: CGO, Checkout Games. There is a poll to help decide what KISS songs will be used in the game. The top 6 songs voted on will go on to star in the game itself. Recent previews of the game can be found at the following sites: Gamefan, Ga-Source.The game was shown off at the recent CPL Frag 3 competition. True Gamers were there and had the following to say: "First off, there was a monitor showing a reel with footage from KISS: Psycho Circus, which I had a chance to sit down and watch for awhile. I have nothing but good things to say about what I saw from this game. The weapons are powerful, and the gibs are plentiful. It looks like a throwback to the old "Doom" style of single-player gameplay, where they throw absolutely ludicrous amounts of enemies at you, forcing you to deal with all them in one way or another. By themselves many of the smaller enemies are not too fearsome, but they seemed to attack only in great numbers." We've recently wrapped up our three part series on the evolution of the Arachniclown, which is an enemy from the game. You can check out all three installments by clicking here.

Mark St. John: The KISS ASYLUM Interview
From: KISS ASYLUM
Are you ready for a treat KISS fans? Well KISS ASYLUM is happy to deliver a big one for you! We were fortunate enough recently to be able to conduct an in depth interview with the one and only elusive Mark St. John. Though Mark has been slowly venturing back out into the world of KISS fandom from his self-imposed seclusion recently by attending a couple of KISS Expos, we were aware that most fans would not get the benefit of attending those Expos to see Mark in person. Therefore, we made arrangements to conduct a phone interview with Mark so that all the online fans would be able to read what Mark has to say after his 15 long years away from the fans. Mark was very gracious, laid back, open, and a real pleasure to talk with during the interview. He never shied away from any topic, instead seeming more than ready -- almost relieved at times -- to address all issues head-on. Mark seems to be genuinely enjoying getting back in touch with the fans, and had a great time during our interview relaying all kinds of stories about himself, both in and out of KISS. Don't be surprised to see more of Mark in the coming months and years in interviews, at Expos, and musically because Mark isback and he'll tell you so!

Of course, there were so many possible areas to cover with Mark that there's no way we were going to be able to cover them all. However, we're confident you'll find Mark's perspective on a variety of topics very interesting, including: memories of Eric Carr ("I thought, the best musician in the band. He was just always solid, he always played it right and he never really made any mistakes as I remember."); why he says his time in KISS was actually "the worst time" of his life ("Everyday was lies and deceit, all kinds of little weird things. Everyday was like a little test or mind games...."); the interesting story of the Animalize album back photo ("Oh, it is a total cut and paste job!"); what he thinks the realreason is he developed arthritis ("I never had arthritis in anywhere in my family. I was playing violin concertos on the guitar before KISS, you know? I think it was just the stress of the whole thing."); his feelings on being replaced by Bruce ("I'm thinking that Bruce is just helping, but which turned out to be that it was another plan in the big picture..."); how his KISS experience affected his music life ("Paul and Gene kind of wrecked it for music for me for the longest time, and it made me not like the whole thing anymore because of what I went through."); working with Peter Criss ("We finally did the big recording and all that stuff and we sent the tapes to all these companies, and all the companies would send us this little letter back and every letter would be the same: We really like what you are doing, but at this time we are looking for something different."); and, of course, his new CD the Mark St. John Project ("Now I am finding out that I have people who are really concerned about me and my music and the mystique of it all. People are interested in what I am doing, and I am playing more for the people, the fans.").

Fan Feedback: "Should KISS include songs from the '82-'97 era of KISS on KISS Alive IV?"
From: KISS ASYLUM
"Would you pay to see KISS in makeup with a 'replacement' guitarist (i.e. Tommy Thayer) in Ace makeup?" According to the results of KISS ASYLUM's latest FAN FEEDBACK Poll the KISS Army Online sure wouldn't! A whopping 4100+ people participated in our latest poll with the break down as follows: No, 60.5% (2508 Votes) - Yes, but only if a new makeup design was used, 24.1% (998 Votes) - Yes, 8.5% (354 Votes) - Would depend on the new player, 6.7% (279 Votes).

Former KISS Guitarist Sues Lawyers
From: Wall of Sound via Paul Boyd
Former KISS guitarist Vinnie Vincent has filed a lawsuit against his attorneys, alleging both professional negligence and breach of contract. The charges stem from an unsuccessful federal suit Vincent, whose real name is Vincent Cusano, filed against his former bandmates in 1997, which was dismissed earlier this year. Additional charges surrounding Cusano's bankruptcy case are also included. The suit claims that Vincent's lawyers dropped the ball regarding his grudge against his former comrades, and owe him $5.6 million - the value of his lawsuit - as well as compensatory and punitive damages. He claims one attorney withdrew a $2.6 million proposal that a previous lawyer had presented to the other side, calling it "grossly inadequate." He also accuses them of failing to include certain claims in the failed federal case, including foreign royalties and trademark violations, as well as failing to communicate with him in a timely fashion.

"Sound Off:" The Pulse of the KISS Army Online
From: KISS ASYLUM
Repeat "Sound Off" author Chris Karam has brought up a very good, amazingly simple point in his most recent essay -- through all the "greasepaint and gripes" let's not forget all the good music the band has provided us throughout the years. Picking a handful of KISS's albums to analyze and use as demonstrations of the vast and varied catalogue they have provided us with in the past 25 years, Chris reminds everyone that at the heart of it all -- the reason we all became fans of this band in the first place -- is the music!

Paul Stanley Attends Charity Auction
From: Greg & Marne
We have returned from a KISStastic time in Canada! The Windsor Arms Hotel in Toronto hosted a Charity Auction/Masquerade Ball Halloween Night after the final performance of "The Phantom of the Opera". Paul Stanley attended the formal event along with Pamela, Evan, Paul's parents, Doc McGhee, and many other cast members from the 'Phantom'. Paul and his family were very accessible, mingling with the crowd and taking time to talk with all who approached them (including us!!), and welcoming questions. When asked, Doc offered the information that the band would be back on the road in March, 2000. Paul's father boasted how proud he was of his son, and that he would like to see him do more theatre. Paul and Doc talked about New Year's Eve in Vancouver, and both did mini interviews with the many news stations covering the event. Evan showed he has a voice like his dad, singing 'Phantom' songs on stage with Paul looking on. A live auction consisting of 'Phantom' memorabilia, stage props, and actual costumes made for an exciting time. An autographed, framed 'Phantom' mask used by Paul on stage, and a Washburn guitar custom painted with the 'Phantom' insignia and mask with a star over one eye prompted Paul to come to the stage to entice the bidding to go higher. As the items sold, he congratulated the winners, again autographed each item, and posed for pictures. The evening came to a close at approximately 1:00AM. Paul and his family stayed until the end. It was truly exciting!! Click here to look at our pictures of the evening!

"Sound Off:" The Pulse of the KISS Army Online
From: KISS ASYLUM

  • The Way It Should Be - Future Album Releases: Bob Rodrick, author of the original "ultimate KISS box set" essay nearly two years ago here ar KISS ASYLUM has decided to weigh in with another essay geared toward future KISS album releases. Noting that some artists live forever through their music, Bob believes KISS will be one of those rare artists - and that they'll do it on the strength of their music. For starters, Bob sees the following as necessary future KISS album releases once the band is no longer creating new material: The Entire Wicked Lester Album * KISS: Live At The Daisy 1973 * The Unmasked Anthology: 1983-1995 * Live In The Shade 1990 * The Essential KISS: The Real Best Of. Yes, Bob certainly has a strategy planned out for KISS!
  • Do The Things We Say To Do: Hold on to your hats ladies and gentlemen, the "Sound Off" stakes have just been raised to a new level! In an essay so big it took three authors to create, Matt Donaldson, Darren Dewis and Todd Dewis have covered just about every aspect of KISS you can imagine, including: Set List, Costumes, New Studio Album , Opening Acts, Solo Albums, Outside Projects, Movies, 80's Material and The Box Set (including 9 "mini boxes" - each of which contains a CD, Live CD and Video!). These guys haven't missed a trick!

Paul Stanley To Play "Jeckyl & Hyde"?
    From: Paul Boyd
I just finished watching the Wrap Party coverage of the closing of THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA, as held at the Windsor Arms Hotel here in Toronto and excerpted on the tv show "Toronto Living" on cable 10. The reporter asked Paul if he had any future plans to act on the stage again, and Paul replied " I loved doing this production and the producers of the Broadway play "Jeckyl & Hyde " have made me an offer to do the lead, so I'm trying to work out my scheduling to fit it in, so that's something to look forward to."

    CBS.Sportsline.com Is KISS Krazy!
    From: Scott Engel
KISS fans At Sportsline Dear Friends at KISS Asylum: In an effort to show fans of the band exist in all walks of life, plus as a tribute to the band, I am enclosing a photo of myself and three other CBS SportsLine staffers that transformed ourselves into the Hottest Band in the World on October 31. Fully decked out as KISS, we won CBS SportsLine's Halloween contest. Backed by a 24 inch high Ace action figure from Spencer's and handing out Hershey's Kisses, we took over the world's No. 1 sports site for a day and made it rock! We would like to share our fun day with all other KISS fans. Photo consists of: Scott Engel (Ace Frehley), Ben Shapiro (Paul Stanley), Herman Henderson (Peter Criss) and Mark Franco (Gene Simmons). Scott's makeup was completely original, while Herman and Ben used the official KISS makeup kit. Thank you very much for your time and keep up the great work on your site. We all visit it daily!

    Toronto KISS Expo Review
    From: John Derrick
Sunday, November 7, 1999: Today I attended the Toronto KISS expo. My first impression was that attendance from both fans and dealers was smaller than in previous years, although there was still a significant turnout. I think that interest in KISS conventions peaked during the first Reunion Tour, and now we're back to seeing just the diehards attending. In a way, this was advantageous because it meant that you didn't have to endure long lineups in order to meet the featured guests. Bruce Kulick and Mark St. John were the special guests. They separately did their own Q and A session, and then made themselves very accesible for a meet and greet/autograph session. Mark met with fans for several hours and was very friendly and willing to sign anything, and also pose for pictures. During his Q and A, he answered questions about his brief period with KISS. He related how he worked alone in the studio on the Animalize album while Gene was up in Canada acting in the movie "Runaway", Paul was in the Bahamas with actress Lisa Hartman, and Eric was in Florida with his girlfriend! For the recording, all the guitar amps stored in the KISS warehouse that were made available to Mark either needed new tubes, or some sort of work, so he just plugged his guitar direct into a 30 dollar Rockman, and then when straight into the mixing board. As a result, Gene and Paul were unhappy with the guitar tone. Since everyone was missing in action while Mark was laying down his tracks, he just did the best he could (with no direction), and when Gene and Paul came back, they had the nerve to say to him that it didn't sound like a KISS album, and complain that they had spent all this money on it!!! Luckily the album was a success in sales. Bruce talked alot about his band Union, and mentioned that there will be a new album out in the future on their new label. I'm sure that you can get up to date on that at the Union Asylum. Bruce said that he feels the next KISS tour may very well be a Farewell tour. He thinks that they will probably play some songs from the 1980's as well in order to give the fans some variety. He would love to see his band Union chosen as the opening act for the tour but feels it's highly unlikely. There would probably be some fan interest there because of Bruce's past association with the band, but it is probably more attractive to Gene to just continue going with these crappy bands that pay for the opening slot. Sean Delaney was also supposed to make an appearance, but was a last minute dropout, possibly due to health problems. Hopefully, we'll get another opportunity in the future because he would have the inside scoop on KISS from before the first album, right through the glory years. I would love to see him write a behind the scenes book about his experiences with the band. Once again this year, the Toronto KISS convention was alot of fun and provided great guests from the bands history.

    Oregon State Band Tributes KISS
    From: Stu Johnson
On Saturday, November 6, 1999, the Oregon State Beavers ended their 28 year streak of losing seasons with a win over the Bears of Cal State. This event was overshadowed by the Oregon State band, whose half-time show was a tribute to "The Hottest Band in the World...KISS!!!" The half-time show included the Beaver band's renditions of Parasite, Detroit Rock City, Shout it Out Loud, and God Gave Rock and Roll to You II. The band did an outstanding job of performing the songs. I'm not sure who arranged them, but the results were spectacular. The color-guard was even wearing KISS makeup. What a night for the Beavers and KISS fans all over Oregon.

Final Night of "Phantom of the Opera" Review & Photos
    From: Lefki
For the final night of the Phantom performance Doc McGhee, Gene Simmons with Shannon and Pam with Evan attended. Evan was dressed up as the Phantom. He is too cute for words. I should have some pictures of that coming soon. He was singing "Music of the Night" while people were leaving. Some area TV news were there. Paul said a few words at the very end. He thanked Toronto and thanked Pantages for making many peoples dreams come true, including his. He also stated he was the last person hired to do the Phantom and is the last person to leave the stage which was quite an honor. They closed with the entire cast and employees of the Pantages Theatre on stage singing "Music of the Night". And then was closed off with a firecracker display and a spray of confetti with balloons. I'll tell you one thing though, every KISS fan in there...all they needed to see right then and there is Gene hop on stage and sing Rock & Roll All Nite. It was too good. So here of a few pictures of the closing. Click Here to view the photos.

USA Network to air 'Detroit Rock City' in 2002
    From: Donnie & Lori Sergent
LOS ANGELES (Billboard) - USA Networks has picked up the broadcast network window rights to "Detroit Rock City" from New Line Television. The third licensing deal between USA and New Line in recent months will bring the rock 'n' roll comedy to USA in 2002. USA recently purchased the broadcast network window rights to "American History X" and made a deal with New Line to pre-buy the broadcast network window rights to "Next Friday," the sequel to "Friday." USA will show "Friday" in a co-promotion by New Line and USA on Dec. 22, three days before the theatrical premiere of "Next Friday." USA has also agreed to run a preview of "Next Friday" in a split screen during the credits of the Dec. 22 showing of "Friday." "American History X" co-star Edward Furlong stars with Giuseppe Andrews, Sam Huntington and James De Bello in "Detroit Rock City," about Midwestern high schoolers on a quest to get tickets to a KISS concert.

New Year's Eve Update Postponed... Again
    From: Sean Cowie
Well they're still teasing us here in Vancouver but the "official" announcement for KISS' New Year's Eve show has been postponed AGAIN, this time, according to a Universal Concerts spokesperson, due to a conflict in expectations with the opening act. Apparently, the still-unnamed opener was unaware of certain things that had been promised to the promoters and are waffling on signing on the dotted line. The Universal spokesperson did say though that the big-name act IS confirmed and WILL be playing no matter what. No hints were given though on who will warm up the crowd for KISS. Basically, all that needs to be worked out now is ironing out the wrinkles with the openers and the decision was expected to be made today and the "official" word to be given tomorrow or Thursday.

"People really seem to be interested in what I do for a living and they do offer interesting questions when I meet them. That's been a pleasant surprise." Augustine also plans on traveling to KISS Expos in Sweden and Norway at the end of this month.

Fan Feedback: "Would you pay to see KISS in makeup with a 'replacement' guitarist?"
    From: KISS ASYLUM
Recent rumors on the internet have concerned Ace possibly signing a record contract in the near future and wanting to put out a new album this spring. Gene & Paul have mentioned more than a few times that KISS plans on going back out on tour in early 2000. What would the online fans rather see happen? KISS ASYLUM wanted to know and asked that very question in our last FAN FEEDBACK. The fans weren't shy in voicing their opinion, with 70% (2116) of the votes wanting KISS to go back out on tour in 2000 versus a new solo album from Ace, which garnered a mere 30% (926) of the votes.

What if Ace were to put out a solo album and then follow it up with a solo tour? What if KISS wanted to move on without Ace, but still wanted to keep the popular KISS makeup? KISS ASYLUM wants to know: "Would you pay to see KISS in makeup with a 'replacement' guitarist (i.e. Tommy Thayer) in Ace makeup?" Click over to www.kissasylum.com/poll2/ to cast your vote and make your opinion heard. Also, don't forget to post up your comments about "your thoughts on a KISS tour with a replacement player" on KISS ASYLUM's KISS Army Online bulletin board at www.kissasylum.com/bbs/

Official KISS Vancouver Show Announcement Tomorrow
    From: Sean Cowie
The BIG announcement has been delayed until tomorrow (Tuesday) due to the inability to officially sign a few of the other bands to the bill. Of course this is for KISS' New Year's Eve show in Vancouver. One of the members called Larry & Willy at CFOX this morning to say the announcement would have to be put off until tomorrow morning at 7:15 AM Pacific Time, so we'll have to wait until then. Larry & Willy did play a clip of the conversation they had with the "mystery artist" ("Hi, this is Gene...", and then they cut off the last name as a joke!) but it was obviously The Demon himself saying he was calling from L.A. but had to call back tomorrow to give the "official" word. So stay tuned because as soon as I hear it here in Vancouver, YOU'LL know!!
