Just read a little piece on GeneSimmons.com that got me fired up. I know, "Get A Life. Inc.", but hey I've got a few minutes before the kids are up. So here goes.A KISS fan Adam was nice enough to send Gene a blurb that Sylvester Stallone put in his new Sly Magazine letters page: Someone writes in "So which is going to be the best magazine - Sly, GENE SIMMONS' Tongue or Oprah Magazine?" Sly responds "It all depends on what you like. If you are a fanatical loyal soldier in the KISS army - and therefore a fanatically unemployed drifter - you may go for Tongue. If you're a househusband into Fluffernutters, Julia Roberts and crying, you'll want to read Oprah. If your neither of those things, you're gonna like Sly". Response from Gene: Stallone has nothing to explain to anyone. He's a self made guy. He deserves everything he's got. The best of luck on his magazine. Gene - your a much bigger man than me - I mean I agree with what you said about Sly but I have to give him a few shots, so I sent him the following note: Sly, what's the deal? You want to hammer Tongue Magazine or even GENE SIMMONS, go ahead - I may even join in. But the KISS Army? Come on. What have we ever done to you? We're a good bunch and I would assume like me, many KISS Army members are your fans too. But Sly since you fired the first shot, I have to respond. I grew up with your Rocky and Rambo movies and now enjoy introducing them to my kids but let’s be real Sly, as an actor, for the most part that's a stretch. I mean my Basset Hound Ace, delivers dialogue a little better than you. And be honest, I bet even you would have a hard time naming the last 10 movies you starred in! I may even go a step further; quickly name any 10 films you've ever been in not named Rocky or Rambo. But hey that’s 10 more movies then I’ll ever be in and Sly, I hope you know my comments are all in good fun as I think yours were. You did get one thing right though, KISS ARMY members are fanatical and loyal. That may come back to bite you. While I'll give you a pass and probably still check out your magazine, I think some of the more loyal ARMY members won't. But hey at least you got some free press for your magazine on a few KISS fan sites! Peace, Keith |
