No, it wasn't a Hollywood awards show. It was the Regions Bank 500 Festival Snakepit Ball. "This event gets bigger and more fun I think with every year that goes by," Scott Thiems, Exec. VP of Regions Bank said. It is one of the city's most popular events. Just ask the party's hostess Cindy Simon-Skjodt. "It sold out we have a waiting list and next year if you want to come get in early. That's all I got to say," Simon-Skjodt said. 24-Hour News 8 was there interviewing celebrities and taking you inside to see all of the action "I was here for the first time Indianapolis 500 last year so I'm here again," rapper and actor Ludacris said. "There is something called the culture of Indy. There is a sense of family," KISS musician GENE SIMMONS said The perennial rock star even mastered the art of a great tease, "There is a about to be a very very big news item that we really can't announce yet but you'll hear it here first." Simmons is here representing the marketing firm behind the Indy Racing League. America's Next Top Model winner Jaslene Gonzalez may not know much about racing but is proud of her Latin heritage and meeting another Latina, driver Milka Duno from Venezuela. "I didn't know there was a Latina as a driver. I'm excited now, I want to meet her," Gonzalez said. Fellow Latina and actress Aimee Garcia from the recently-canceled George Lopez show says she has her favorite, "Oh gosh I'm torn. I think Danica is right up there but I think I'm going to be rooting for Helio. I don't know, I'm going to go for the Latin support there." John Oates of Hall and Oates fame says he can't go for that, an Andretti is on his list, to win the 500. "I'd like to see Michael win this he's come out of retirement I think it would feel pretty good for everyone if he won it," Oates said. |
