KISSONLINE NOTE - KOL will be at the Nashville KISS Fan Expo with exclusive KISS & PAUL STANLEY merchandise. To celebrate the upcoming KISSOLOGY Volume 2, VH1 Classics has given us 30 rare KISSOLOGY Posters to raffle off! Also Pearl Drums is giving away an ERIC SINGER Signature Snare Drum to a lucky fan. Please drop by the KOL table and say hello.

During KISS' 1970s heyday, ERIC SINGER was a Cleveland, Ohio, teenager who made his way to see the band several times on tour. Today, the 49-year-old drummer doesn't like to refer to himself as a fan — Singer prefers the term "professional," since he finds himself in full black-and-white cat-like makeup keeping the beat for KISS every night the band takes the stage. Singer, the band's third drummer after PETER CRISS and ERIC CARR, is technically off Sunday, but he still plans to pucker up for KISS' most dedicated fans. The drummer will be the special guest at the 2007 Nashville KISS Expo noon-8 p.m. at the Holiday Inn Select Opryland.

"The convention is basically a meeting of people who are like-minded in the sense of their passion and fandom," Singer said. "That's what the word 'fanatic' means, it's fans that are crazy. And that's the way that KISS fans are, they are like no other breed. There are a lot of fans that every band shares and enjoys, and then there are KISS fans, which are really in a league of their own. There are no fans like KISS fans."

At the expo, Singer plans to host question-and-answer sessions with fans, pose for pictures and sign autographs.

"Eric's very accessible," said Keith Leroux, who runs the band's official site, www.KISSonline.com. "He takes time with the fans so much so that we have to hurry him along sometimes."

Leroux predicted KISS fans would show up to peruse tables of official KISS merchandise, collect giveaways, play KISS trivia, enter makeup contests and participate in question & answers with the guests including Louis Antonelli, who directed PAUL STANLEY's new Live to Win concert DVD.

Feeling nostalgic?

Andrew Todd, 30, said he doesn't plan to slather his face in grease paint like some of the other attendees, but that he's looking forward to the expo purely for its nostalgic value. "I was such a big fan of KISS when I was younger," said Todd, who is a real estate agent in Murfreesboro. "The expo is a chance to relive my childhood and maybe pick up a couple of things I wish I had when I was a kid."

Todd said he wasn't looking for anything specific, but Singer said he might be one of the few. "There are some people who collect anything and everything KISS," said the drummer. "Then there are people who are very specific, who only collect toys, posters or video and audio, and you find all these fans inside the fan base. "

And, even if it was years ago, Singer does remember what it's like to be a fan.

In addition to KISS, he also plays drums for Alice Cooper and has performed with Black Sabbath, Queen, Gilby Clarke, Lita Ford and on PAUL STANLEY's solo projects, which is how he landed his gig with KISS. At one point in time, he said, all the bands with which he's played have inspired him.

"I think the one thing I've always been able to say, which I think is kind of unique, is that every band I've played with I was a fan of growing up," Singer said. "A lot of times I've been a drummer gun-for-hire, so I've been fortunate to play with people I've been influenced by. I know I'm not just going out there to play a gig, but I'm going, 'Hey, I admire this person.' And it's kind of weird, I would never have thought I would end up being the drummer in KISS."
