Click to enlarge Review: Ace At The Norva
From: KISSAsylum

Posted: January 3, 2008

I've been a KISS fan since 1976 when my older sister put KISS Alive! on my little record player. When I heard Ace was coming to the Norva, I bought tickets the first day they were available. After a local band played for about 20 minutes, Jam Pain Society came on. Not bad, but definitely not what the crowd was there to see. Ace came out and tore into Rip It Out. The band was tight, and everyone on stage seemed to be having a good time. Ace cracked a few jokes, mentioned the Tiger attack, and thanked the military for their service. He introduced Break Out as "A song that me and ERIC CARR wrote".

During his solo at the end of Shock Me, something happened to his Les Paul. A loud crack was heard through the PA, and then a loop of feedback kept repeating itself until Ace walked to the side of the stage and came back with a different guitar. He joked about fucking the guitar up, and then launched right back into the solo as if nothing happened. Love Gun was awesome with his drummer taking the lead vocal. Ace had the crowd singing "Back in the Norfolk Groove". Overall a great show with some classic KISS, as well as classic Ace material. I look forward to his solo album.
