From: Teddy Wilson Reports

Posted: December 13, 2008

Teddy Wilson from 'The Circuit' here. Got to interview another one of my heroes last week, the God of Thunder himself, GENE SIMMONS (.the fact that they call what I do a "job" is pretty ridiculous).

I've been a HUGE fan of KISS for tons of years. First time I heard them was at about age 9, when my best friend back in my old suburban Ottawa 'hood broke out his Fisher Price record-player and played me his Dad's beat-up "Destroyer" LP. From the first chords of the seminal "Detroit Rock City", I was hooked.

Suffice it to say, interviewing him was a total 'trip' (as the kids say these days). As though he needed to start yet another business, Gene was in Canada last week touting the launch of his new record label, Simmons Records, for which he's partnered with Universal Music Canada and former MP and auto-parts baroness Belinda Stronach (I know.WTF?!).

After chatting a bit about his new label, KISS' resident Demon and I talked a whole bunch about comics. You likely know about Marvel's mega-selling KISS comic from 1977 (for which the 4 original members of the band each dumped a vile of their own blood in the Marvel ink.hence the claim on the front cover, "printed in real KISS blood"), but you might not know that Gene's had his own publishing company, Simmons Comics, and for the last few years has been pumping out some very decent titles .including "House of Horrors", "Dominatrix", and "Zipper".

Check out the interview on this week's episode of 'The Circuit'. Here are the covers of a few of his comics in case you feel like picking 'em up next time you're at your friendly neighborhood comic-book store.

Teddy out!
