May 6th at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, (formerly Meadowlands Hilton) Meadowlands Parkway, Secaucus, NJ See you there! From: KISSOnline QUESTION: Being a KISS fan yourself, what do you think of the The Elder Album? --- Jay Blankenship, Indianapolis, Indiana ANSWER (Tommy): I was never a fan of The Elder. To be honest, by the time Dynasty and Unmasked had came out I had lost interest in KISS. And then I was watching TV I guess around 1982 and I saw them on a late-night TV show called Fridays playing "The Oath" (from The Elder) and I thought, this is cool. It was stripped down, Marshalls, black and silver outfits, raw and LIVE and ROCKIN'. The only downfall was they all had short hair, but that was OK, they were back on the right track! Next thing you know "Creatures" comes out and that was great, I really like that album. It's funny, but in recent years I have a new appreciation for all of those late-70s, early-80s KISS albums. QUESTION: I know you've played many shows with KISS already but what do you think when you look around during a show and see Gene and Paul in makeup? It must be so strange to be up there playing with legends you grew up loving as fan? --- Mike Hayes, Dennis, Mass. [more] From: KISSOnline KISSONLINE recently spoke with Brian Galvin, owner of the new KISS Coffeehouse in Myrtle Beach, SC. Seems construction is proceeding nicely and Brian has some big surprises in store for the official opening sometime in June. What makes this great new KISS project even more exciting is that Brian is a true KISS fan and his knowledge and enthusiasm for all things KISS will be evident throughout the Coffeehouse. KOL will have new photos and progress reports each week, right up until the opening. In this photo confetti is applied and dried, before the floor is finished. From: INDY Star TV Q&A Question: I seem to remember a mid-1980s movie starring GENE SIMMONS of the rock band KISS and another singer, the Prince protege Vanity. But no one seems to remember this movie. Can you tell me the title? Answer: That's the 1986 film "Never Too Young to Die," which also stars John Stamos. He's a gymnast named Lance Stargrove who's avenging the death of his father. Vanity is secret agent Danja Deering, who teams with Lance to find the killer -- Velvet Von Ragner, played by Simmons. From: KISSAsylum.com KISSAsylum wishes Ace a happy birthday. From: Eric-Singer.com Just got back from our ESP trip to Australia. Both shows went great with a really strong turnout. From: www.adjab.com Given his proclivity for jumping on any venture that could earn him a few more bucks, GENE SIMMONS has essentially become the George Foreman of rock and roll. This fall KISS will be slapping its name and image on bottles of fragrance, deodorant, body wash, body splash, lotion, and etc for both men and women. The campaign, which will feature both print ads and television spots, as well as promotional events and giveaways on college campuses, will launch in October. The taglines for the new campaign is "You'll never forget your first...." and "Fragrances made for lovin' you!" KISS Cloth Patch And Button Set From: KISSMuseum.com Just released - a unique matching KISS pin and button set. Patch is 3.5" wide with a very high quality stitch density and silver thread accents that catch the light as you move; a stunning piece. The 1" button actually has a cloth front; a very odd material to use, but the texture complements the patch perfectly when worn together as shown. (Construction of button is metal-backed with standard pin clasp covered with red cloth material on front). We've never seen a cloth button before, but it's a very effective medium for this set - not unlike a big, red KISS logo Sun rising from behind the four band members. $4.95 at KISSmuseum.com From: KISSKollector Earlier this year, The Coloured Faces released a KISS tribute album, titled The Music Of KISS, featuring covers of the following KISS songs: Detroit Rock City Beth Strutter Deuce Shout It Out Loud Lick It Up Rock And Roll All Nite Love Gun Christine Sixteen Cold Gin God Of Thunder I Was Made For Lovin' You Calling Dr. Love Heaven's On Fire Forever I Love It Loud Tears Are Falling From: Action-Figure.com Prototype still in development - final product may vary Each Sideshow Exclusive version of the KISS Premium Format figures includes an additional base, so that you can choose the 'stage' for the band's performance. These KISS figures will be the centerpiece of any KISS collection, the largest and most accurate reproductions ever created. No other KISS collectible has captured the personality, attitude, and menace of the band in the way that Premium Format does. [more] KISS Sighting From: John Kozak I'm a big KISS fan (almost 30 years) and I was watching an NFL Europe game between Cologne and Hamburg on the NFL Network, and there was a disputed call that suspended play, and while they sorted things out, "I Was Made For Lovin' You" could be heard being played throughout the stadium, from the intro to the first chorus. It just goes to show that the band and it's songs hold up over time, all over the world! From: Drew I thought Gene's brother was an only child? Or that Gene is an only child? After one of my recent gigs, a good friend stopped by and took a couple pics with me ... well, it's as close as I'll ever get to meeting the real Gene!! That's me on the left, and him on the right. Uncanny resemblence, isn't it? From: KISSAsylum What a fantastic night. I just got home and it's 4am. ERIC SINGER, BRUCE KULICK, Chuck Garrick and John Korabi gave it their all to a crowd of around 1000 fans. Eric was doing the usual thing, bashing those poor drums...lol. He showed the crowd that he is the best drummer around! Bruce played his guitar with precision. Not one mistake. Poor Chuck was being picked on all night from Eric and made a few stuff up's thanks to Eric's pranks! I even stuffed him up when I got to press the cords on his bass as I was in the front row as usual. John Korabi also kicked ass. John and Chuck are very talented musicians, just like Eric and Bruce :) [more] From: GeneSimmons.com Hey Gene. Joe Apple Chairman for the KISS Army march on the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame From: bestweekever.blogs.com Recently, GENE SIMMONS, KISS's sex-crazed front-man, had brainstorm: Why not combine women's exercise with sex to create the perfect workout: Sexercise. It's hot for men, it's slimming for women and the workout video will earn him millions. What's more, he can hold auditions where hot babes will show him why they should be Sexercise's workout video hosts. And maybe he can even whip out his bouncey bouncey hand dance. However, I'm trying to find out as much as I can about the history of this bass. Any help from fans would be appreciated. Thanks! Wes Bentley [wesb14@bellsouth.net]. From: GridSkipper.com Gridskipper pere Chris Mohney is still in Las Vegas and I'd normally leave the Vegas tips to him. But when the Los Angeles Times reports on the subculture of LV's all-dwarf KISS cover bands, sometimes you just gotta write about it. The current controversy is over allegations that Joey Fatale, the 4'4" mini-GENE SIMMONS who fronts all-dwarf tribute band MiniKiss, tried to assault "Little" Tim Loomis of rival all-little person cover band Tiny KISS. MiniKiss also includes a 350-pound woman for good measure. The Long Island-based MiniKiss plays out regularly and a schedule can be found at their site. But, as these things happen, your best bet for 4-feet-tall Gene Stanleys comes courtesy of rival upstarts Tiny Kiss: The band signed a contract to play nightly at Las Vegas variety show Beacher's Madhouse starting in July 2006. MiniKiss [Official Site] Tiny Kiss [Beacher's Madhouse] Beacher's Madhouse [Official Site] MiniKiss vs Tiny Kiss [Sploid] From: Brandweek The rock band KISS is preparing to unleash a marketing campaign behind its new fragrance. The fall launch will be supported with print, television and promotional events that play off a Venetian mask theme and tie back to the group's flamboyant makeup style. Averett Free Ginsberg, New York, developed the ads. Promotional events will include a sampling campaign of KISS masks, blotter cards, scented tattoos, stickers and car fresheners. Sampling will be held in stores and on more than 60 college campuses. Long Island Music Hall Of Fame From: Gerry Gagliano There has been a movement for some time to set up a Long Island music hall of fame here in New York. It looks as if they are moving along, and have announced their first class of inductees. Sure enough, KISS is there along with acts like Billy Joel, Twisted Sister, Pat Benetar, George Gershwin, and even Count Basie. There is some kind of induction ceremony to be held in October of this year at the Patchogue Theatre. From: PAUL STANLEY's Paradise The PAUL STANLEY's Paradise message board opened up on October 21, 2004. A few months later we thought we needed a home page and website to go along with it. Now we're taking it all a step further with a fanzine. I'm really proud of our website and message board and all of the people who meet on our board to help make it a true home for PAUL STANLEY fans. I wanted to bring that same vibe to a fanzine. As for PAUL STANLEY? He needs no introduction. He is a rock and roll icon, the quintessential frontman. Whether it's with the makeup or without it, it's all about great songs, great vocals and a stage presence like no one else. He is the epitome of a rock star. I came late to my appreciation of KISS, enlisting in early 2003. I was aware of them my whole life but only knew the hits and had this preconceived notion of what I thought they were like. I had a KISS Greatest Hits CD that just sat on my shelf, still in the shrink wrap, figuring every home had to have Rock And Roll All Nite in their collection. This band finally started to intrigue me a few years back when I watched them on TV playing under the Brooklyn Bridge -- my jaw on the floor at the thought of just how lucky KISS fans must be. I wondered what the hell I was missing out on. Unfortunately, life got in the way and I put my interest on the back burner. A few years later, after one week of repeated viewings of Beyond the Makeup, I just couldn't take it anymore. I had to rip open that CD and find out for myself. Ok, so I finally caught on. Ask ERIC SINGER From: Eric-Singer.com Hello Eric, I know that Peter was one of the founding members of KISS one of the greatest rock bands in the world of our time, but you actually fit the band best. I am very impressed by your professionalism in how you fit each gig and you mold to it like you were always there. question to you is: me being a drummer as well, I was curious about the drumheads you use because we all know of the quality level of heads these days pulling from the hoop and coating chipping ect, no need to mention company names. Why do you play Attack drumheads when they are the most inconsistent head out? They must make them for you custom like T Bozzio's,,, am I wrong and if I am please fill me in because I never looked at Attack seriously. Thanx ES:Thanx for the props !! I have had really great results with ATTACK heads for over 10 years now. I do indeed use the Bozzio model heads most of the time but have also had good results and consistency with the others as well. I don't know what else to tell you ? Give em' a more serious look perhaps ?? good luck E Hi Eric, I'm Andy from Powerzone Records of Rome (Italy). I contact you becouse we would like to produce a new album of Badlands. Do you think it's possible? Are you in contact with the other guys? Please let me know. Thanks Andy [more] From: KISSOnline.com As a band, KISS has long been known for its outrageous costumes and explosive stage shows. Now the hard-core glam rockers hope they'll be known not only for their makeup but also for their new pair of fragrances, which are due on 2,000 department store counters this September. From: Célébritiés Galleries The next piece in PAUL STANLEY's Limited Edition Art is "God Of Thunder." It's a painting of GENE SIMMONS, with lyrics from "God Of Thunder" painted next to him. See more of Paul's Limited Edition Art at Célébrités Galleries. From: npr.org MiniKiss is a cover band devoted to the face-painting rock music group, entirely comprised of "little people." The band tours all over the world and has earned a cult following. But now the band faces some competition from another group called Tiny KISS. It's a campy outfit featuring three little people and one not-so-little person -- a 300-pound-plus female lead singer, also decked out in signature KISS makeup. Madeleine Brand talks with Joey Fatale, founder of MiniKiss, on what life is like as the miniature GENE SIMMONS and how he feels about the competition. Listen to the story here From: MovieFone In 'Garfield: A Tail Of Two Kitties', America's favorite feline, Garfield (Bill Murray, voice), follows his owner, Jon (Breckin Meyer), to England. The U.K. may never recover, as Garfield is mistaken for a look-alike, regal cat who has inherited a castle. Garfield savors the royal treatment afforded by his loyal "subjects," but his reign is in jeopardy. The nefarious Lord Dargis (Bill Connolly) is determined to do away with Garfield, so he can turn the castle into a resort. I read 'Thumbalina' and the 'Giant Octopus'. Both, incidentally are based on the classic children's stories, but take place underwater. Look for it in a few months." From: KISS Forever Remember March of 1999 when the first-ever issue of the legendary Playboy magazine came out with a male person on the cover? Read more about the issue at www.kissinuk.com/cms/content/view/116/26/. From: LATimes.com They might be pint-sized performers onstage, but offstage they're in a giant-sized dispute. Joey Fatale, the 4-foot, 4-inch New Yorker who heads the all-dwarf KISS tribute band MiniKiss (pictured), is denying published reports that he tried to sneak past security last month at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas to confront a rival band leader, 4-foot "Little" Tim Loomis of Tiny KISS, for allegedly ripping off his idea for such a group. Loomis, a former drummer for MiniKiss, was performing with Tiny KISS, which includes three little people and a 350-pound woman, on St. Patrick's Day at Beacher's Madhouse, a Las Vegas variety show, when the incident occurred. [more] From: glam-metal.com One of my favorite artists that you have worked with is PAUL STANLEY of KISS. You worked with him on his soon-to-be-released solo record, right? Yes, I did. I played almost all the leads on his record. I also played some rhythm guitar. That was a really great experience. He was totally fun to hang out with and he was funny. I meet him before briefly but never spent any time with him, so I didn't know what he was like or what to expect. But he turned out to be a great guy to be around. And the music is very cool. What does it sound like? Well, I'm younger, so I think that he brought me in because he wanted it to sound more like modern rock. If it does sound like KISS, it's because it's PAUL STANLEY. But it's modern rock, it does have some heavy tunes and a couple of laid back ballads. But overall it sounds very modern. Did you co-write any of the material with him? No, no definitely not. Basically what happened is I worked for an artist that Doc McGee managed and he called me in and Paul liked my playing and from there it just worked out. [more] From: TommyThayer.com Question #1 I have always wondered how you guys put your makeup on so straight and neat? How is that done, man? Thanks, Dale Long, West Jacket, WV ANSWER: No kidding, but very carefully. It usually takes us almost two hours to put on the make-up. Question #2 What are your thoughts on the 2005 Queen + Paul Rodgers tour? Personally, I think it's great to see Queen in action again. If they came to Pittsburgh, I'd be there in a heartbeat. Thank you kindly, Aaron Greer, Pittsburgh, PA [more] From: KISSAsylum.com Our friend ToniAnne celebrated her 40th birthday Saturday night with a KISS themed cake!!! From: KISSKollector.com Finally there's some news on Shannon Tweed's long awaited book KISS And Tell. For unknown reasons the book by GENE SIMMONS' girlfriend has been delayed for a long time, but Phoenix Books has now announced a May 2006 release. The list price for this 192 page hardcover book - with a foreword by Gene himself - is $ 24.95. Apparantly, an audio CD version of the book was already released by New Millennium in October of 2004 (on 5 discs)… The book's PR write-up states: "Two decades and two children after their first meeting at the Playboy Mansion, Shannon Tweed and GENE SIMMONS are still happily together--with never a fight or even cross words. KISS and Tell is the surprising other side of the story from one of the world's most beautiful women." From: Sideshow Collectibles A preview of Sideshow Collectible's 1:4 scale KISS figures. Q&A With ERIC SINGER From: KISSarmyKotka.com Q: The "Rock The Nation" DVD is now out. It clearly shows the great chemistry between you four guys live. Do you think that there still might be a chance to capture that chemistry in studio? Do you have any plans to release yet another studio album? Do you feel it might be possible? Eric: "We do have a great chemistry playing-wise and off stage as well. I think this is because we all are very professional as people and take what we do seriously and with a lot of pride. I would love to see a recording of some kind in the future if it is meant to be." Q: There's been a debate on our forum about whether you play the drums on "God Gave Rock 'n' Roll to You II" or ERIC CARR? From: Bradenton Herald It was Chevy Chase's movie, but KISS rock band founder GENE SIMMONS, sans the Kabuki make-up, caused the biggest uproar on the red carpet at opening night of the Sarasota Film Festival. Stepping out of a black stretch limo, sporting sunglasses, black jacket and a curvaceous twentysomething blond woman on each arm, Simmons' arrival at the screening of "Funny Money" drove autograph-hunting KISS fans into a veritable frenzy outside the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall Friday night. Fans roared "Gene!" and erupted into a Beatlemania-style scream for Simmons, 56, who generously stopped to sign a few autographs and proudly told the media, "I'm all about money and beautiful women. That's what life's all about." [more] From: Bradenton Herald The other celebrities will likely run for cover. Typically, the stars aren't overly excited about facing a crowd of frenzied fans. And there will be plenty of places for them to hide at the Sarasota Film Festival's Opening Night Gala, which takes place tonight at the sprawling John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art. However, there should be one exception. As planned, GENE SIMMONS will stomp through the crowd while conspicuously tailed by a camera crew, his own camera crew.
