From: theChronicleHerald.ca Among the hundreds of pumpkin people on display for visitors to Kentville this fall are the members of rock group KISS, playing to a pumpkin audience on Burgher Hill near the agricultural research station. From: KISS Asylum KISSology officially hits the streets today, and it's a busy day in New York City for Gene and Paul as they: ...appear on MTV's TRL at 3:30 PM ...appear as Grand Marshalls in the New York Halloween Parade at 7PM .. and appear at the Virgin Megastore in Times Square at 11PM From: The Journal Sentinel In the early '70s, four New York musicians were influenced by glam-rockers like David Bowie and Alice Cooper as well as Japan's traditional Kabuki actors. Calling themselves KISS, they experimented with makeup and costumes until each developed a distinctive stage persona. Drummer PETER CRISS became The Cat, lead guitarist ACE FREHLEY was The Spaceman, bassist GENE SIMMONS was The Demon, and lead singer PAUL STANLEY was The Star Child. Initially playing New York's small clubs and bars, their shows mixed music and pyrotechnic displays while Simmons breathed fire and drooled blood. Three years and four albums later, they were one of the best-known acts in the world. [more] From: PaulStanley.com Paul will appear on the nationally syndicated Bob & Tom Radio show this upcoming Friday. The show, which broadcasts from Indianapolis (on WFBQ), is heard on 150 stations in 39 states! Would be any KISS fans dream. My son Scott and I went to the Chiller Theatre convention in New Jersey on Saturday afternoon to meet PETER CRISS. Peter was in great spirit and he looked amazing. It was a bit of a reunion for me because I was the fan in makeup in the now famous "Phil Donahue" PETER CRISS imposter show. Peter and I discussed that time in his life and that show with his present wife Gigi, who took this photo. Peter stated that he was feeling alot of love from his KISS fans during the weekend. I told him that his drum solo during the big screen KISS concert showing on Thurs. received the loudest round of applause, in New Rochele NY. He signed some memorabilia for us and my son purchased his new Pro Mark drum sticks. The great day could of ended there but it didn't. We left the convention and headed for the PAUL STANLEY show at Irving Plaza. What else can I say, Paul was fantastic! My 10 year old son got to hear two of his favorite songs "Hide your Heart" and "A Million to One". We waited at the backstage door for Paul but he left through the front. My son did get to say hi to Doc McGee and Paul's mother so he was happy. [more] From: KISSOnline On Tuesday, October 31st at 7 p.m - PAUL STANLEY and GENE SIMMONS will be the Grand Marshalls of the 33rd Annual New York's Village Halloween Parade. Paul and Gene will appear on a KISS Float in full costume and makeup, and KISSONLINE will be there to cover this special event. We will post several times on Halloween to report on this busy KISS day! New York's Village Halloween Parade is the nation's largest public Halloween celebration, attended by over 2 million people and seen by over 4 million on TV! PAUL STANLEY of KISS will be in the Northwest November 10th, promoting his much-anticipated new solo album at the Showbox. Live to Win came out October 24th, but if you want to hear it LIVE, get tickets to his show at ticketswest.com or hob.com. Paul kicked off his solo tour October 22 in Atlanta. From: PaulStanley.com PAUL STANLEY made a triumphant return to New York City Saturday night, delivering a powerful show to an electrified audience at Irving Plaza. From the opening of "Live To Win" to the closing of "Goodbye", the hometown crowd sang every song of the set, while cheering on Paul and his backing band! Feeding off of the crowd, Paul seemed even more relaxed and energetic then usual (if that's possible)! The New York homecoming was truly a treat for everyone involved - the audience, the band and Paul, himself! From: Contact Music Rocker GENE SIMMONS is sharing the shock of becoming a dad again with fans of his reality TV show GENE SIMMONS' FAMILY JEWELS, by airing the moment he discovered the news The KISS star and his longtime partner SHANNON TWEED agreed to undergo a joint plastic surgery procedure to tighten up their sagging faces for the first season finale of their hit US show . But just before the rocker went under the knife for his nip and tuck, former model Tweed dropped a bombshell She said, "I might be pregnant so I can't have surgery." The moment was caught on camera and will air during the season finale on Monday night Simmons and Tweed already have two teenage children together, NICK and SOPHIE From: Sleazeroxx.com I must confess to not being the biggest KISS fan there is, although I do own at least a third if not more of their sizeable record catalog. So when I saw that PAUL STANLEY was touring in support of his first solo album since 1978, I was interested enough to read the story but that was it. No plans were made, no tickets were purchased, I think I actually had lunch shortly thereafter. Chinese, to be specific. A friend of mine called either later that day or later in the week, saying Paul was going solo on tour. He is a big KISS mark from way back so I new this was up his alley. As it turns out, a stop on his Live To Win tour was going to pass through the Hard Rock in Orlando, Florida on the same day the CD of the same title was going to be released. Even more coincidentally, that was the same night as a party for his stepson's birthday. Knowing how much he loves KISS and the members who bring the band to life, his wife suggested he ask me if I wanted to tag along with him since she'd be at her son's party (they have a great marriage). I figured what the hell? He was offering me a ticket in exchange only for driving to the show, about 50 miles or so each way. Let's see, gas at $2.15 a gallon, Jeep gets approximately 18 mpg, carry the four and divide by a left turn, and that comes to like something shy of $13. Looks like I owe him some more driving! Since the show was Tuesday, October 24th, we would both be leaving from work and heading straight over to the Hard Rock. I usually work until at least 6 p.m., doors opened at 7:30, show started at 8 p.m., so we figured we'd get there when we could and if we missed the opening acts (if there were any), who cared? It was Paul we were going to see anyway. As it turns out, after driving over, parking, walking through the pre-park area of Universal Studios, we still managed to get to the Hard Rock, go through what little security there was, head up to the balcony, find our seats and chill, looking at the scenery before the first act started. [more] From: Music Star Productions Music Star Productions will release KISS drummer ERIC SINGER's "All Access To Drumming" DVD on November 21. The disc, which contains bonus rare footage, features easy-to-follow instructions helpful tips on warming up, utilizing triplets, gaining independence, playing double bass and enhancing your performance skills. In addition, Eric gives his own heartfelt advice on the "business" side of the music business. For the past two decades, ERIC SINGER has remained at the top of the list for "First Call" Rock drummers. In "All Access To Drumming", Eric shares his experience, techniques and many other aspects that are essential to survive as a professional drummer in today's world. From his dad's society band to LITA FORD, GARY MOORE, BLACK SABBATH, BADLANDS, ALICE COOPER, BRIAN MAY and KISS, Eric has mastered the playing techniques and tricks to persevere in the real world of rock drumming. [more] Here's a inside look at the packaging of . KISSology, which Todd Geuder picked up Thursday at his local Walmart. KISSology is scheduled for release October 31st, but it appears that the DVD has made it out in some places earlier. Walmart's exclusive version includes a third DVD, KISS's 1977 appearance in Largo, MD, and the "fan piece" bonus is replica backstage pass from KISS's 1977 World Tour. From: Whittier Daily News Since the '70s, KISS has steadily evolved from being a niche band to becoming a household name. Instantly recognizable, the group's vivdly painted faces and flamboyant duds have become a marketing tool for a plethora of items. Now KISS is getting even more personal with fragrance lines for men and women. "The idea of KISS fragrances initially was not just limited to fragrances, it was for everything head to toe," said GENE SIMMONS, bass player, singer and perhaps the most recognizable member of KISS. [more] From: Baltimore Sun Having spent more than three decades as the starry-eyed frontman for the rock group KISS, PAUL STANLEY is among the most recognizable figures in pop culture. These days, however, Stanley, 54, is hitting the road sans his signature face paint and seven-inch platform boots for a 17-city club tour in support of his just-released solo album, Live To Win. Stanley, who plays at Rams Head Live tonight, spoke with The Sun last week from his home in Los Angeles to discuss his new project as well as several Kiss-related topics. [more] From: KISSOnline According to some extremely reliable inside sources, here's the scoop on the KISSology I packaging. - There will be a 20 page booklet, full color, in perpetuity. With mostly unreleased photos... including a handwritten note from Paul (ala KISS MY ASS), in which he mentions Ace! The best photo, perhaps, is a shot from the infamous session for the original KISS lunch box... where the band is seen candidly standing, waiting for the photo session to begin. The booklet also features quotes taken from Gene & Paul's chapter commentary within the dvd. - There will be a "fan piece" (like the tatoos in ALIVE II or the pop up LOVE GUN in Love Gun...) in initial pressings of KISSOLOGY VOL. 1. No one is saying what this is, other than the fact that it is an item the band hasn't offered as a collectible previously. [more] From: KISSAsylum.com KISS Asylum has continued to receive reports of the new PAUL STANLEY solo CD sold out in stores across the country. We received many from New Jersey in particular; here are a few: Kevin Knight of Atlantic City NJ had quite a bit of leg-work to do to get his copy, but in the end, luck was on his side.... "I dropped by the Best Buy location on Route 46 in West Paterson, NJ, yesterday (October 24th) to pick up PAUL STANLEY's Live to Win CD. There were two shelves reserved for the CD within the new music display as soon as you walk into the store, and it was already sold out at 2:30 pm! The store manager said they ordered double the amount of units than most other Best Buy stores, and it still sold out, and more CDs would arrive Friday. I then went to CD World, also on Route 46 in West Paterson, NJ, and there were only two copies of the CD left on the shelf on the new music display as soon as you walk into the store, and I purchased both copies...one for me and the other for a friend. Looking forward to his concert this Friday at House of Blues in Atlantic City." [more] From: Eric-Singer.com Combining their unique blend of talent and years of experience with some of rock's most well-known bands, the ERIC SINGER Project, better known as ESP, returns this fall with separate CD and DVD releases, giving fans around the world a chance to experience their incredible live show. The very busy band members, comprised of ERIC SINGER (KISS/Alice Cooper), BRUCE KULICK (Grand Funk Railroad/Union/KISS), John Corabi (Ratt/Union/Motley Crue), and Chuck Garric (Alice Cooper), found the time in early 2006 to travel to Japan and Australia, playing for sold-out audiences and delighting fans with their energetic and exciting concerts. The arrival of the new CD and DVD is welcome news to ESP fans, who have been wanting more from the group since the release of their 1998 debut, Lost And Spaced. The interview is now online for free download at www.eitmonline.com/eitmonline2/media/ eitmlive/stanley.mp3 Also in PAUL STANLEY news, during yesterday's (October 25th) Rockline appearance, Paul mentioned that his current solo tour, including rehearsals, are being filmed for a future DVD release. Live To Win is available for purchase at the AOL website as well as CD music outlets everywhere! From: Michael Gershe You might want to call ahead to reserve a copy of Paul's new CD LIVE TO WIN. As Michael Gershe reported to us: "I was excited to head to Best Buy in Akron, OH after work to get Paul's CD today. I even left work early so I can get there, get the CD, get home, put it on my ipod and then workout to Paul's new music. Only one problem, Paul's CD was already SOLD OUT and this was at 5 pm!! The clerk said they even had it on the wall of their popular music. Not sure how many units Best Buy had, but you would think as a national chain they would have quite a bit. Needless to say, the KISS Army supported Paul today in Akron, OH!" Paul's new CD is now out and available online and wherever CDs are sold. You may want to have several options open in your quest to find this amazing new disc as it seems to be selling out in some locations. From: United Press International Today, KISS co-founder PAUL STANLEY has released his second solo album, "Live to Win" -- 28 years after his self-titled extra-band debut in the United States. But Stanley says he doesn't plan a similar gap for his next effort outside KISS. "I have no intention of waiting that long or anywhere near that long," said Stanley. "I would like to be in the studio within the next year, two at the most, and get to work again. [more] From: The Sun News Take away the studded leather outfit, black-and-white stage makeup and platform boots, and KISS rocker GENE SIMMONS could pass for an everyday businessman. Well, except for the jet-black long hair. And the constant come-ons and sexual innuendo. OK, but there's a businessman tucked in there somewhere, one that has become a marketing machine. He persuades consumers to snap up just about any item bearing the KISS name, much like he persuaded fans to give a makeup-wearing, blood-spitting band a chance three decades ago. With no provocation and barely a split second after pleasantries are exchanged, Simmons launches into a ribald half-hour defence of his refusal to marry the mother of his children and his longtime love, Canadian Shannon Tweed. It seems Simmons expected to be nagged. The A and E show, after all, features him going head-to-head on the subject of matrimony with everyone from Tweed herself to his two teenaged kids and an angry female stranger in a bar who ends up wrestling him. Even Barbara Walters has asked him to explain himself. [more] From: First Coast News JACKSONVILLE, FL -- In full battle gear, the KISS Army launched its latest invasion, with members wagging their tongues at the Belk store inside the Regency Mall. Fans from Daytona Beach and further away lined up for a chance to meet their make-up wearing commander, GENE SIMMONS. What would bring the legendary KISS singer and bass player to the First Coast? He’s selling perfume, of course. [more] From: San Fransisco Chronicle PAUL STANLEY might be best known as the spandex and platform boot-strapped guitarist for KISS. But the man who co-wrote hits like "Rock and Roll All Nite" and "Detroit" shows a more sensitive side on his second solo album -- and first in 28 years -- "Live to Win." Working with an all-star cast of collaborators whose previous clients include Britney Spears, Bon Jovi and Aerosmith, the singer and occasional Broadway star delivers a set of songs that are likely to make his longtime fans cry -- by either design or default. We caught up with Stanley by phone at his Los Angeles home, where he was dividing his time between interviews and watching over his 2-week-old son. Stanley plays the Fillmore on Nov. 13. Q: It's been 28 years since your first solo album. A: Hopefully, it won't be another 28 years. If this one's called "Live to Win," that one will be called "Pray to Live." [more] From: A&E Networks Monday, October 23 10:00pm ET Tuesday, October 24 2:00am ET Saturday, October 28 1:30pm ET Gene squirms after learning that Shannon won a session with a psychotherapist in the kids' school auction. Shannon is hell-bent on making sure he attends this session. He runs (to lunch with Bill Maher, and to party in a rebuilt New Orleans), but can he hide from Shannon and his impending appointment with the shrink? Meanwhile, Shannon and the kids deconstruct Gene's ego when they raid his office shrine and plan to sell his valuable KISS merchandise. View the preview video From: Orlando Sentinel Without KISS, it's unlikely that PAUL STANLEY, a 54-year-old rock star, would be doing an afternoon's worth of phone interviews to promote a new solo album. So it's a little surprising when his publicist prefaces my interview with a stern admonition that I'm not to ask any questions about KISS. Well, um, OK. I'm sure that Stanley has other stuff to talk about: His Tuesday concert at Hard Rock Live, showcasing material off his new Live to Win or maybe the baby boy he tells me is perched in a carrier on his chest. He and his wife, Erin Sutton, had a baby boy, Colin Michael Stanley, on Sept. 6, at least according to what I read in People. "It's my second, and it's one of the things that really puts life in perspective,'' Stanley says. "It puts your importance in the world into perspective." [more] From: Associated Press Underneath the Starchild makeup and atop the 7-inch platform heels, KISS lead singer PAUL STANLEY has always had the heart of a talented songwriter. On "Live To Win," he casts off the shackles of KISS and dishes up a second solo disc that's more Foo Fighters than Frehley. But the modern sound is welded to a firm foundation of '70s and '80s rock and proves there's a lot more to this man than pouty red lips and a rose tattoo. Many of the songs appear to deal with the recent turmoil in Stanley's life, including a divorce, remarriage and the birth of a child, and the title track drips with angst, tempered with an "I'm-not-giving-in" defiance. "Lift" is about a quest for forgiveness and redemption from a broken love, and "Wake Up Screaming" is perhaps the most infectious track here, with its electronic drum beat giving way to a thundering chorus amid the kind of catchy hook Stanley has been dishing up for three decades. From: Atlanta Journal-Constitution When KISS rock star GENE SIMMONS comes to town to sell his fragrance and sign autographs, what other option do you have but to call into work sick and start waiting in line at 9 a.m.? For Kenneth Hathorne, it was no decision at all. For me to meet him in person, I'll be lucky if I don't have a heart attack," said Hathorne, a 44-year-old car mechanic from Suwanee. [more] From: Madison County Herald Like many performers who entertain with loud lyrics and audacious displays of rebellion, GENE SIMMONS, of the legendary band KISS, was a notorious '70s rock star with an outrageous reputation perpetuated by elaborate costumes and makeup, smoking guitars and acts of fire-breathing and blood-spitting. Idolized by some; demonized by others - Simmons, and his famous tongue, became another iconic musical symbol of defiance. That's why it's hard to believe that his offspring, teens Nick and Sophie, are such well-behaved kids. With a rock star for a dad and former Playboy Playmate of the Year Shannon Tweed for a mom, you'd expect the Tweed-Simmons children to be a little on the wild side, but Jack and Kelly Osbourne they aren't. Just Marketing has agreed to partner with Simmons Abramson on its IndyCar initiatives, but Just Marketing will not directly represent IndyCar. Essentially, Simmons Abramson, which had limited previous motorsports experience, will continue to generate leads for new sponsors and Just Marketing will help close the deal and create marketing programs. [more] From: South Florida Sun-Sentinel Is PAUL STANLEY joining the march of middle-aged rockers to reality television? Not exactly. But the longtime singer and guitarist for KISS has enlisted a group of reality-TV regulars for his latest project. Stanley, 54, is on the road with the house band from the CBS series Rock Star , which in two seasons has yet to produce any -- but never mind. That's not the fault of the five guys who backed up the show's aspiring singers. The point is, Stanley was working on a solo album -- his first since 1978 -- and casting around for the right band to help him play the new songs live. "And when I saw these guys a year or more ago on that Rock Star show, I went -- as does everybody else -- 'This band is a killer,'" said Stanley. So he hired them for a tour in support of the just-released Live to Win (New Door/Universal) that comes to Revolution in Fort Lauderdale on Monday. In an interview, Stanley sounded pleased with the decision. "They're amazing," he said. "We sound like a band that's been together a long time, and that's what I wanted. Anybody can hire a bunch of crackerjack individual musicians. It doesn't make a band. A band is made by people playing together." Kiss has been playing together on and off since 1973, albeit with lineup shuffles that often left Stanley and singer-bassist GENE SIMMONS -- who does have a reality show -- as the only founding members still aboard. Stanley has produced a few other bands and made a few guest appearances, but in general has not spent much of his professional life outside of KISS. His last solo album was one of the four that KISS members released simultaneously 28 years ago. [more] From: New Times After all these years, after all the whispers and rumors, PAUL STANLEY has finally come out... with his second solo album. "I've actually got two new babies now," the KISS frontman chuckles quietly over the phone from his home in Los Angeles on a recent afternoon. One of them is little Colin Michael Stanley - born in early September to Erin, his wife of a year - who's sleeping in the next room. Which may explain why the 54-year-old singer/guitarist, a pleasant enough interviewee, is particularly subdued over the course of conversation (not that he's expected to shriek about "vodka and ahhwwnge juice," but c'mon!). The other baby he's referring to is Live to Win - a ten-track, 33-minute offering that's the first to bear the PAUL STANLEY name since he, GENE SIMMONS, ACE FREHLEY, and PETER CRISS simultaneously released solo platters on September 18, 1978, at the height of Kissmania. Why the long wait between albums? It wasn't for lack of desire. "I've always wanted to do this," Stanley says. "But the problem is that some of the other people in the band wanna be off doing other things all the time and, you know, somebody's gotta mind the store." From: Associated Press Kiss rocker GENE SIMMONS appeared at a North Carolina Army base Monday to promote a new line of cosmetic fragrances. Those buying KISS Him cologne or KISS Her perfume for $39 got an autograph or photo taken with Simmons, the flamboyant KISS bass player famous for wearing black and white makeup and sticking out his long tongue. 'If people decide that a KISS fragrance line makes sense,' Simmons said, 'who's to argue with America?' [more] From: Pro Mark PETER CRISS will be appearing as a guest at the Chiller Theatre Convention from October 27th -29th at the Crown Plaza in Secaucus, NJ. Yes, this is the same venue that has been home the past several years to the annual NY KISS Expo. You can find more details here: www.chillertheatre.com/ch4.htm. Peter recently signed a new drumstick endorsement deal with Pro-Mark. You might remember, Peter was with Pro-Mark once before from the early 1980’s through the mid-1990’s. In celebration of Peter’s new endorsement, Pro-Mark is producing VERY LIMITED edition drumsticks that will ONLY be available at the Chiller Theatre Convention. There will be two different models which represent Peter’s various music styles. The first model will be the Pro-Mark TXR3JW model, which is a jazz stick that will feature a "jazz cat" on it in green & black. The second model will be the Pro-Mark TX3RW model, which is a rock stick that will feature Peter’s famous cross tattoo on it in red & black. Peter personally hand drew the artwork for both models! Each pair will come with a certificate of authenticity. So word to the wise, get them while you can! If you were considering going to the convention, do so. If you can’t make it, find a friend who is going and can pick them up for you. As I mentioned, they will not be available afterwards. From: New York Daily News View a video of the event here (Peter appears around the 2 minute mark). The stretch limos seemed like they'd never quit, and the fans sounded as though they'd never quit screaming, as Long Island paid due respect to its musical heritage. The scene was the first induction ceremony at the new Long Island Music Hall of Fame, which drew some 1,200 music lovers to the Patchogue Theatre for the Performing Arts. Inductees from Joan Jett to Johnny Maestro and the Brooklyn Bridge, and from Billy Joel to Little Anthony strutted the red carpet into the theater Sunday night. [more] From: TheWeekender.com With "Live To Win," PAUL STANLEY’s first solo album since 1978, the legendary "Starchild" of KISS has not only delivered a terrific hard-rock record, but has also dropped a batch of fiery and incredibly melodic songs that will remind even the most disillusioned of KISS fans why they fell in love with the band in the first place. For plenty of the KISS faithful, it’s never been about the makeup or the huge stage shows. The love for the band came from the music, and Stanley, more often than not, was the one dishing out some of KISS’ best songs. With "Live To Win," Stanley – minus GENE SIMMONS and the rest of the "Hottest Band In The World" - is not only in top form, but has clearly released the best KISS-related item of any kind in more than a decade. It is a tremendous rock album. The record kicks off with the explosive title track and then slams into the fresh and modern, yet also somewhat grand and trippy, "Lift." And it only gets better from there. [more] Two New Official T-Shirts From: KISSmuseum.com Two new official shirts have been released from Signatures Network. Now, after 33 years of KISS, Stanley feels he and KISS are finally in a place where he can make his own music, and do what he wants for a change. From: ibergen.no Peter (Criss) and Ace (Frehley) used to beg for their songs to be on a Kiss-album. Granted their songs might not have been as good as Gene and Paul's songs, but they were usually given one song each per album. That being said, I am sure both Peter and Ace were very frustrated and it caused them to be "bad boys", she says to iBergen.no. Lydia Criss is the ex-wife of legendary Kiss-member PETER CRISS (60), and is releasing a tell-all coffee table book called "Sealed With A KISS" this month. In the book, she discusses her life together with the famous drummer and the band once labelled as "The Hottest Band In The World". According to her, there was never room for any doubt regarding who were the bosses in the band, and which members who should just do as they were told. The former KISS guitarist VINNIE VINCENT, who played with the band from 1982-1984, lost a Supreme Court appeal Monday in a dispute over royalties with his former band mates. Vincent had a feeling things weren't going to go his way when he walked into court and saw Justice Alito looking like this. They then showed the photo of Judge Alito in PAUL STANLEY's makeup with a studded leather collar around his neck. From: AdFreak.com You don’t expect to run into a rock star in the hotel lobby at every ad-industry conference—not in dull-as-dishwater Orlando, Fla., and not a rock star who specializes in blood-spitting, fire-breathing and tongue-wagging. It’s weirder still when the rock star is actually attending said conference. But it happened last week at the Association of National Advertisers, when GENE SIMMONS of KISS fame sauntered into the Ritz-Carlton, small entourage in tow, to drum up business for his 1-year-old marketing company, Simmons Abramson Marketing. Yep, there he was at cocktail parties and official event dinners, mingling with P&G, Campbell Soup and Hewlett-Packard execs, seeking sponsors for Indy Racing, which his company now reps. Simmons created the "I am Indy" work and personally penned the campaign's song. I learned this over a 20-minute interview with him and his business partner, Rich Abramson. Also performing on the album are former KISS bandmate BRUCE KULICK and guitarist John 5. While the heartfelt "Loving You Without You Now" was written without any outside collaboration, the remainder of the album reunites Stanley with former KISS songwriting partners Desmond Child (AEROSMITH, LEANN RIMES) and Holly Knight (TINA TURNER, PAT BENATAR), and introduces new collaborators including Andreas Carlsson (BON JOVI, BRITNEY SPEARS), John 5 (ROB ZOMBIE, MARILYN MANSON) and Marti Frederiksen (AEROSMITH, FAITH HILL). Add the greatest front man in rock and look out! The admiration and respect between Paul and the band is clearly evident. The scary part is this was only the third rehearsal so far. Rehearsals are scheduled almost daily, right up until opening night - October 21st. It should also be noted these are not short rehearsals. Today the guys spent over seven hours delivering the set with a three guitar attack, along with keyboards, a ferocious rhythm section, outstanding backing vocals and PAUL STANLEY in fine vocal form! What was she was like? And how did you get on with her? Were you very close? And what is your fondest memory of her that you can share? A. Now, now, that isn't one question it is five. Okay, it was so long ago, that I really don't remember the first time I met her. I remember her being very easy to please and we always laughed a lot. We got along good. [more] From: Blasting-Zone.com Ever make a decision early in your life that you later seriously regretted? I did…and it’s funny…it seems just like yesterday. I was eight years old, it was Saturday afternoon and I once again found myself standing in front of the discount cassette bin at my favorite local--and now long defunct--retailer. The decision? Which of the four KISS solo albums should I buy. Let me tell ya, I was totally stumped. There they were, all mixed in with a Bangles album I had never heard of, Johnny Horton’s Greatest Hits and most of Rush’s post-Moving Pictures releases. I was mortified, half convinced that I would make the "wrong" decision no matter which I chose. To make a long and painfully boring story short, I ended up buying Gene’s (the cover art finally won me over) and spent the rest of the weekend terrorizing my elderly neighbors. Now, twenty two improbably long years later, having had the apparently opportunity to spend the past month and a half relentlessly playing PAUL STANLEY’s long-awaited, sophomore solo effort Live To Win, I once again find myself wondering if I ultimately made the right decision. On the stellar Live To Win (2006), an expertly assembled ten song collection of brilliantly executed Hard Rock, each track, beginning with the blistering title track, and the slow-building (albeit impossibly passionate) "Lift", immediately commands the rapt and undivided attention of even the most jaded and unimaginative of listeners -- myself most definitely included -- with a seamless, mostly mid-tempo barrage of soaring vocals, searing fretwork and tastefully executed rhythms. Obviously under an overwhelmingly tremendous amount of pressure to overcome the stigma and mysticism undoubtedly associated with the past (this is, after all, the frontman’s first solo effort since his 1978 eponymous debut), Stanley quickly and efficiently dispenses with the business at hand, locking down on an airtight groove with the greatest of ease. Do you think GENE SIMMONS remembers our meeting as well as I do? Not likely. Is that because he’s a jerk? No. It’s because he’s human. For him, that was most likely just another day at the "office."
