From: KISSOnline ACE FREHLEY will appear on the Classic Rock n' Roll Celebrity Poker Tournament premiering on VH1 Classic on Wednesday, March 14 at 10:00 p.m. Hosted by poker legend Phil Helmuth, the Tournament also features Sully Erna, Vinnie Paul, Dusty Hill and Scott Ian (ANTHRAX). From: PaulStanley.com You wanted more shows... you've got more shows! Second shows have been added in Melbourne and Sydney for iconic KISS frontman PAUL STANLEY's first solo Australian tour. Stanley will now play a new show at Sydney's Enmore Theatre on Tuesday April 17 (in addition to Monday April 16) and at Melbourne's Palais Theatre on Saturday April 21 (in addition to Friday April 20). [more] This past weekend, Myrtle Beach, South Carolina played host to KISS fans once again as they opened up their doors for their first KISS Expo. Club Boca, nicely located within Broadway at The Beach, played host to the event. They graciously opened their doors on Friday evening for a VIP pre-expo party to those that had traveled from numerous states and driven several hundred miles just to be there. The full-day expo was held on Saturday, February 24, 2007 from 11:00am - 6:00pm. Special guest appearances were made by Lydia Criss and BRUCE KULICK. Both spent Saturday signing autographs, chatting with fans, as well as partaking in question and answer dialogue with the anxious audience. Lydia was also there autographing her recently published book Sealed With a KISS, which chronicles her life in pictures with famous KISS drummer, PETER CRISS. She self published the massive hardbound book so that she would be allowed to tell the story her way. For die hard KISS fans, it's a must have addition, full of great photographs and some unique stories about the band mates of KISS, and life with Peter. BRUCE KULICK, who played with KISS for twelve years (1984-1996), was there signing autographs for his solo, Union, and ESP CD's/DVDS along with the guitar instructional DVD that he produced with his brother, Bob Kulick. Representatives were there from all walks of KISS history, and filled both levels of Club Boca with vendors and merchandise. Peter Arquette from KISSAsylum.com as well as KISSmuseum.com was there. Keith Leroux from the official web sites KISSOnline.com, and PaulStanley.com was also among the vendors selling merchandise. Three representatives for the newly released KISS fragrance for both men and women were there. They offered great specials on their boxed gift sets, as well as a giveaway drawing for a personally autographed gift set. There were also fans fully dressed up in costume and makeup representing different members of KISS. The attention to detail can make your head spin. It is always amazing to see the memorabilia that has been collected over the years by true KISS fans, even more amazing to hear their stories. Of course, there was face painting at the event, and many took the opportunity to have themselves made as their favorite KISS member for the day. Others have chosen to adorn themselves more permanently. Several KISS tattoos were spotted, and quite a few were very unique in appearance. [more] From: Kayos Productions "Rumors of my demise have been greatly exaggerated"- ACE FREHLEY Contrary to published reports, ACE FREHLEY, formerly of KISS, is alive and well and working on his highly anticipated solo album. It has been erroneously reported on various websites and wire services that the legendary guitarist had committed suicide. Not so! "I don't know how this ridiculous rumor got started," smiles Ace, as he eats his daily allotment of wheat germ, preparing to jump back on his treadmill. From: ShamlessRock.com The brandnew Shameless CD Famous 4 Madness will be released in may with 11 brandnew songs. The disc will feature appearances by ERIC SINGER (KISS/Alice Cooper), Jani Lane (x-Warrant), Phil Lewis (LA Guns), John Corabi (x-Motley Crue & Union), Steve Summers of Pretty Boy Floyd, Keri Kelli (Alice Cooper Band), Stevie Rachelle of TUFF & many more. A European tour is slated for early May 2007 in the UK, Germany, Spain, & Italy. The live touring line-up is Alexx, BC, drummer Tod "T" Burr, Michael Thomas on guitar and vocalists Steve Summers (Pretty Boy Floyd) and Stevie Rachelle (Tuff). The set will include songs from the Shameless catalog, along with select Tuff & Pretty Boy Floyd tunes. [more] From: Kulick.net Speechless is what I am. I am so pleased with the final night at the House of Blues. I know that the campers and counselors were thrilled and amazed with our big finale. The day started with everyone's final rehearsal, then a lunch break and back to the hotel for getting into the clothing for the big performances at the HOB. I felt confident with my bands last time to run through the KISS and Journey songs. I gave my band as gifts some of my solo CD's and thanked them for their hard work at the camp. We exchanged info so we can keep in touch and that is something the camp is great for, bringing people who love music together. About 4 PM we had our special dinner and ceremony where each band and counselor got on stage to receive an award for being at the fantasy camp. It was great to have the lovely Lynn Hoffman and Kelly Keagy interview my band and see how elated they were about the experience, each one saying a few words about how the camp changed their lives. Guess they didn't mind me being the drill sergeant I am known to be! [more] From: Blabbermouth Crash Music Classics has announced the release of BLACK 'N BLUE's "Rarities" album, due in stores April 24, 2007. The CD will feature rare and live tracks from the band's back catalogue. "These tracks are classic demos and live rockers that I have salvaged and re-mastered from my original cassette recordings to be enjoyed today," says BLACK 'N BLUE frontman Jaime St. James (currently also in WARRANT). "I have also thown in my 2002 'Hell Yeah' demos to round out a very rare BNB rock 'n' roll blast from the past." BLACK 'N BLUE formed in 1981 out of Portland, Oregon and released its self-titled debut album on Geffen Records in 1984. The group went on to release four albums, including its self-titled debut, which featured the hit "Hold On To 18". The band would later hook up with GENE SIMMONS from KISS, who produced the albums "Nasty Nasty" and "In Heat". [more] KISS Album Magnet From: KISSmuseum.com Two new large, 3-inch refrigerator magnets have just been released; Alive II and Rock and Roll Over. They are an addition to the In-Concert magnet released last year. Hopefully this series will eventually extend to the entire KISS catalog, but for now, these are the only ones available at KISSmuseum.com. $3.50 each or $9.95 for the set at KISSmuseum.com From: KISSOnline Thanks to our friend Bret Moiseff for sending us this report and some photos from Paul's appearance last night at the Rock 'N' Roll Fantasy Camp closing concert (additional photos courtesy of Gibson). Judges for the event included ERIC SINGER and Carmine Appice, both rich in KISStory. The Fantasy Camp battle of the bands started with a bang as Paul took the stage with BRUCE KULICK's band, Psycho Circus. Bruce said he was excited as he hadn't played with Paul onstage for a long time. Paul played on and off for nearly 3 hours, as he came out with each band- trading vocals or in some cases taking all of them. It was interesting to see Paul without a guitar on. [more] From: Kulick.net As you all know as a former member of KISS for 12 years, I was so excited that at this LA 2007 Camp, PAUL STANLEY would be one of the special guests. So of course we were busy all morning getting the "Shout It Out Loud" tune, as I wanted it to be great for Paul. We rehearsed that one, and our cover choice, which would be "Anyway You Want It" by Journey. My singer Marti, who has strong pipes, was very excited that the band was getting it together quickly. We also had to work on the Beach Boy song called Surfin Safari, and getting the cool vibe for that material, being so different from KISS and Journey really put my band through the paces! But that is what the camp is about, a crash course in learning and playing music along with meeting the stars. The afternoon came quick, and sure enough Paul arrived promptly and with his tech Francis who also has worked with me. Paul was absolutely excited about the bands, and I was shocked at how patient he was showing them guitar riffs, bass parts, and vocal notes in each room. I accompanied him through about 9 of the 13 rehearsal rooms. [more] From: TalkingMetal.com TalkingMetal.com has posted the first part of their February 2007 Rock 'N' Roll Fantasy Camp photo gallery including photos of PAUL STANLEY and BRUCE KULICK. Check them out at www.striglsmusicnews.com/rrfcla/rrfcla.htm. From: Kulick.net Hello everyone! Fantasy Camp is here again, and since I was asked to do a blog for this event - one that is hard to describe, just experience - I will try my best to share with you all the LA 2007 Rock and Roll Fantasy Camp. As usual, day one was jammed packed with excitement. I have to admit it has been a tough day one for the counselors, as actually it is day two. Wednesday we kicked off rehearsing songs for the campers and between learning some Queen songs, Bad Company and Free, Steely Dan, and Go Go songs my head has been spinning!! We don't have a counselor bass player, so I have been sharing the duties with a few others. But I do love playing bass as well, so I have been getting my fingers in shape. Some of you know I have recorded bass guitar on some KISS tunes in the past. So really Wednesday we got set up with our gear, and of course Gibson was there in full force with some fine guitars. I brought some of my own instruments as I live here in Los Angeles. The counselor band was asked to perform Wednesday night for a charity that was put together by a camper named Laura Sperber. She is a coin collector ... how is 5 million for a nickel sound!! She's got one! Her guests were all in the coin field, but it made for a great night and of course kind of rehearsal for the Camp. We all celebrated the start even though the event was separate of the Fantasy Camp, but for us players, it was a great dress rehearsal of the songs we would play for the campers. From: Eric-Singer.com PEARL had a really great display this year at the NAMM show & I was represented with a huge ERIC SINGER banner. Here is a pic which by the way does not represent how large it really is. 15ft x 15ft ! Thank You Gene for the pic... From: VegasPopular.com My pal, GENE SIMMONS, who with his talented tongue has led KISS for 34 years, launches his new Street-Wear fashion line today at the Dussault Custom Ink booth of the MAGIC and the savvy financial investor is calling it MONEYBAG. He'll wear and show the line as super salesmen to buyers from stores around the country for the next three days. Thursday night he's invited me to his celebration cocktail and dinner party in his Venetian's penthouse suite. He worked with designer Jason Dussault on the Limited Edition streetwear of hand-finished and signed hoodies, belts, wallets, purses and hats! Go check it out at genesimmonsmoneybag.com. Gene told me: "I have owned the trademark MONEYBAG logo for over 25 years. I have used it on my magazines, book imprint, record company and a few other areas. Until I met Jason Dussault, I held off on really going out into the marketplace in the street wear line. It has to do with finding a kindred spirit. And, Jason is it. He and I share a passion for only doing things in life that mean something. As a teenager he was a huge KISS fan and spent a lot of time not only dressing like KISS but also drawing my character all over his fashion-books so his teenage dream of meeting me not only became a reality but we hit it off with a great business idea. Together, we intend on creating cutting edge, in-your-face fashions. The MONEYBAG Line, at long last, is becoming a reality." The Hoodies have already been specially designed for Pamela Anderson, Nicole Ritchie and Kid Rock. Gene was at JET Nightclub last night, joining Gnarls Barkley who flew in to celebrate their Sunday night Grammy wins. From: Red Herring GENE SIMMONS has kissed off his IPO. No Good TV, a bawdy Internet and pay television programmer that the KISS lead singer chairs, has withdrawn its planned $43.1 million initial public offering. The company, based in Beverly Hills, California, had planned to raise the money to fund the launch of music- and celebrity-driven programs whose profanity and nudity would bump against Federal Communications Commission decency regulations if aired on broadcast or cable TV, according to a government filing. The company's web site, ngtv.com, had a slick animated film promoting the channel's launch Feb. 24. Calls to the company co-president, Kourosh Taj, and one of the IPO's underwriters, S.W. Bach & Co., were not immediately returned and it was unclear how Thursday's IPO withdrawal would affect the programming rollout. [more] From: GeneSimmons.com The Las Vegas Magic Show is a beehive of activity. Besides the clothing lines in the more than 100,000 sq ft facility, the NBA is also in town for a big event. All of which plays right into the right place at the right time. My partners and I are working with perhaps the most charismatic and high-scoring baller on getting him his own TV show. The head of the network is also in town and we all plan on a sit down together. More on this later. Ran into boxing champ Sugar Shane Mosely and we talked about a few things — perhaps a new business venture. We will see. [more] From: Kulick.net Bruce is definitely shapping up to have a busy '07. Show also improved its Monday-at-10 timeslot by 56% among adults 18-49 (766,000) and 45% among adults 25-54 (742,000) vs. the previous year. The official GENE SIMMONS Moneybag clothing line website has been launched here. From: USA Today We've looked at the SoundScan-era sales of Rush and Donna Summer, and while I doubt if it changed any minds about whether those acts deserved induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, it was interesting data. Today we'll take a look at the other member of your triumvirate of artists most unfairly excluded from the Hall (your opinion, not necessarily mine): KISS. Like Rush and Summer, KISS' sales heyday came long before 1991, when SoundScan began tabulating record sales. They sold (and their label pressed) a ton of records in the '70s; these SoundScan-era numbers will represent just a fraction of those older titles' totals. Still, it's always intriguing to see what's continuing to sell and what's mired in the doledrums. [more] From: KISSOnline Over 400 diehard KISS fans attended Saturday's 2007 Cleveland KISS Expo. Special guest ERIC SINGER spent the day meeting fans of all ages, signing autographs and taking photos. Eric also held a lively 1 hour Q&A session. Director Louis Antonelli dropped by to discuss working with Paul on his upcoming Live Concert DVD. Throughout the day fans shopped, caught up with old friends and talked all things KISS. Cleveland's own KISS tribute band MR. SPEED closed the expo with a crowd pleasing 90 minute set. Thanks to all of the KOL supporters who stopped by our booth to say hi. She dreamed of getting married, having children and being a stereotypical Italian mom – then she met PETER CRISS. The couple fell in love and Lydia entered the glamourous world of being a rock star wife. Things did not come easy however as she worked hard for 12 years to pay the bills and give Peter every chance to live his dream. Lydia was patient and Peter worked hard. Eventually, he was invited to be the drummer in a band called KISS. The rest, as they say, is KISStory! Fast forward to 2007and Lydia has released her first book which is both autobiographical and a pictorial history of her time with KISS titled Sealed with a KISS. The books imagery is the most comprehensive collection of photographs of the band’s heyday ever to be released. The text of the book is written simply and honestly by the author. From the glory of KISS Mania to finding out Peter was cheating on her and taking massive amounts of drugs, Lydia tells all. After taking in the entire spectacle, one feels they know Lydia on a spiritual level. She recounts her life with KISS on an entirely individual level and brings the monsters of rock down to earth and shows them as both rock stars and everyday people. He's had several stints with KISS, including a tour last year, but is also the regular drummer for Alice Cooper. He has his own band, ESP, and has played with Lita Ford, Brian May, Black Sabbath, Badlands and others. He'll be in town this weekend to visit family, attend the Cavs-Lakers game Sunday and appear at a KISS Expo from 1 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the Holiday Inn Cleveland Airport, 4181 West 150th St. Q: Tell us about your Cleveland roots. A: I graduated from Euclid High School in 1976 and moved out to California in 1983 or 1984. Cleveland was such a good music scene and produced a lot of good players, but at some point you've got to go where things are happening. All the Cleveland musicians I know went to New York or L.A.; L.A. has warmer weather so I headed out there.
