Original KISS Drummer PETER CRISS Visits Gibson Showroom
From: KISS Kollector

According to KissKollector.com, original KISS drummer PETER CRISS was seen at a Gibson guitar showroom last week. Apparently, Peter was visiting the showroom with his wife Gigi, his engineer and Mike McLaughlin (the former CRISS guitarist with whom Peter has been writing new songs for a new album for quite some time now).

PETER CRISS last year gave an interview to Perfect 10 magazine in which he revealed details about his upcoming solo CD. The album, entitled "One for All", will feature contributions from the following musicians: Paul Shaffer, Will Lee, Clifford Carter, Mark Montague, Mike McLaughlin. Peter described the songs as "ballads, duet with Jennifer Johnson," with lyrical subjects including "God, wife, mom, life, the band, autobiographical, and a song about ACE FREHLEY."

Due out later in the year, the CD is expected to feature the following cuts (among others): "Bohemia", "Cat Nap", "Crossroads", "Doesn't Get Better (Than This)" , "Faces In The Crowd", "Fallin' All Over Again", "Hope", "Last Night", "Reason For Living", "What Does It Take", "Whisper", "Space Ace".

In addition to the solo album, Peter is said to be currently working on an autobiography, a swing music CD and a children's book

KISS Conquer London's Harrods!!!
From: KISSOnline

My girlfriend and I were in London last weekend visiting a friend and as we were walking past Harrods shop window I did a double take - PAUL STANLEY's guitar was part of a window display! It was a bedroom scene with a model lounging in bed with champagne, glasses and flowers, silk sheets and lacy underwear and right there, propped up gently against the bed was Paul's cracked mirror guitar! I had to take the picture and send it just to show you!

Keep smilin'!

Fuel To Build A Fire
From: KISS Coffehouse

Jeffrey Scott Holland, neo-expressionist artist currently living in Louisville, Kentucky, turns his ultra-primitive "Southern Gothic" eyeball to The Demon, The Cat Man, Starchild and Space Ace in this once-in-a-lifetime exhibit of KISS-themed painting and prints, held in the band's very own coffee house in Myrtle Beach's beautiful and upscale "Broadway At The Beach" entertainment complex.

Holland, a KISS fan since childhood, has often woven oblique references to the band into his paintings, which have hung in galleries and museums in New York, Los Angeles, London and Paris in the last twenty years. His portraits of the band members (and the archetypal characters they represent) are done in a tongue-in-cheek manner that often pokes fun at his idols, but with love.

Gene In Classic Rock Magazine
From: Mick's Headbanger's Ball

A new GENE SIMMONS interview appears in the April issue of England's Classic Rock magazine. Gene discusses his reality series "GENE SIMMONS Family Jewels" and "GENE SIMMONS Rock School", (non-)marriage, ACE FREHLEY, PETER CRISS and PAUL STANLEY. On the topic of Ace, Gene says, "I love him dearly, he's a sweetheart, but he's his own worst enemy. He's great with lots of people around but when he's alone he doesn't like himself. And he numbs himself. He's been numbing himself for 34 years that I know of. I don't know how often I've seen him straight, but it's almost never."

As for Paul, there happened to be a spelling mistake in the advertisement for Paul's solo album "Live to Win" in Classic Rock a few issues ago that some readers found very amusing. Instead of "Bulletproof", one of the the album tracks was misspelled "Bulletpoof". Says Gene, "That's okay. Are you saying Paul pitches for the other side? It happens not to be the case, but I don't think there'd be any problems if he did. Some of your biggest heroes are on the other side. Halford and Freddie and Elton, for example. You English make more of that than any country in the world. In fact, the preconceived notion of the English male is gay. You know that. It's based on the public schoolboy system. Sir Richard Branson told me all about it. The bullying often turns sexual. It's rampant."

Gene also talks about the possibility of the original band getting back together again. 'I personally don't want to," he says. "I love Ace and Peter, always have, and because of my tough love thing I've never been shy about saying they've been drug addicts and alcoholics, and they've destroyed themselves."

ERIC SINGER Appears On Avanasia's "The Scarecrow"
From: Blabbermouth

EDGUY frontman Tobias Sammet has set "The Scarecrow" as the title of the third installment of his AVANTASIA solo project. The album is being produced by Sascha Paeth, who also played the rhythm guitar on the CD. The drums were laid down by KISS/ALICE COOPER drummer ERIC SINGER and the bass is being handled by Tobias himself.

Commented Sammet: "I am right now in the studio doing some vocal sessions. In about two weeks I am going to fly to England to work with a friend of mine on some vocals.

"Fans and record companies who are interested always ask me for the names of my guest musicians. I want you all to know that I am blessed to work with the best musicians, but I don't believe in making names more important than the music itself. I am working with some childhood heroes of mine and most important, with great personalities, true friends, and the greatest musicians you can think of.

GENE SIMMONS' 'Family Jewels' 'Ass'-Vertising Campaign: Photos Available
From: Blabbermouth

GENE SIMMONS of KISS and 25 female models created the world's first "ass"-vertising campaign on Thursday (March 22) at the Hard Rock Café in New York City to help promote the launch of season two of A&E's real-life series "GENE SIMMONS: Family Jewels". Gene's model entourage — wearing underwear that reads "GENE SIMMONS Family Jewels" across their rears — handed out branded panties to the people of New York City . After about 30 minutes at Hard Rock, Gene and his girls made their way down to street level where they walked through the busy streets to a chartered double-decker bus. From there, they hit various hot spots around NYC to spread the word — and the panties.

Recap Of Gene's Appearance On Howard Stern
From: HowardStern.com

GENE SIMMONS and his girlfriend, Shannon Tweed, came in to talk about their reality show, "Family Jewels." While the two got settled, Howard reported Gene and Shannon received facelifts on their show, and proceeded to show video of it. Gene then noted he planned on putting the footage of the procedures on "Family Jewels," but Robin pointed out she didn’t think his face looked much different now than it did prior to the surgery. Howard then admitted again that he had plastic surgery done on his nose years ago, but added he wouldn’t get any more work done in the future. Shannon went on to say she just turned 50, and mentioned how she once had a relationship with Hugh Hefner years ago when she was in Playboy and Hef was around the same age as Gene is now. Despite her past, Shannon insisted she wouldn’t let her own daughter appear in the magazine, adding she didn’t think her daughter would be interested anyway seeing as how much self esteem she had.

Howard asked why Gene refused to marry Shannon even though she desired it, and he replied it was because he wanted her to have the opportunity to leave the relationship anytime she wanted. Howard still wanted to know why Gene wouldn’t take the plunge, and asked if he’d be upset if his daughter was dating a man who wouldn’t marry her. Gene responded, though, that he didn’t think any woman should define her happiness based on any man, but Sal came into the studio was a theory of his own: Gene was unfaithful to Shannon on the road, and he wouldn’t be able to engage in that behavior anymore if he were married. However, Shannon said she’d "bet anything" that Gene never cheated on her, and Howard reported he’d arrange for a lie-detector test the next time they stopped by.

Howard played a clip of Andrew Dice Clay talking about Gene, making fun of Gene’s reality show, his hairdo and Gene didn’t like a script he once sent him. Following the tape, Gene acknowledged everything Dice said was true, but that he still wanted to address the topic of the movie. Gene went on to note he didn’t think Dice was talented as a scriptwriter and therefore refused to give him the money – a total of $3 million – he was seeking for his movie. Howard then took a call from Dice – which was actually just clips of him – and Gene accepted his challenge to fight him. As Dice’s insults continued, Gene and Shannon laughed, and Gene said he knew the voice was "a tape loop."

GENE SIMMONS, Shannon Tweed Get His-and-Her Facelifts
From: People.com

It's a growing trend among couples, but few are recording their procedures for posterity. In this case, nearly every pre-through-post-op moment was taped for the couple's A&E reality program, GENE SIMMONS Family Jewels, which begins its second season on March 25.

The show does take some creative license, making it appear that Tweed tricks Simmons into doing it: He acts surprised when he finds himself in the Beverly Hills offices of Dr. Frank Ryan – and hears that the procedures will run over $40,000 each. (Actually, Dr. Ryan hints that the surgery was gratis.)

But there was nothing phony about the scalpels. Simmons was on the table for 11 hours as Dr. Ryan and his team hoisted his jowls, tweaked his eyelids and liposuctioned around his pecs. The next day, Tweed got a facelift and lower lid adjustment.

As you may remember from the season finale of Gene's hit A&E reality series, "Family Jewels," both the aging rocker and his longtime girlfriend, Shannon Tweed, underwent his n' hers facelifts. Shannon originally backed out of the operation when she thought that might have been pregnant. Once she discovered that it was only a false alarm, Gene's better half went ahead with the surgery.

The 57-year-old rocker will broadcast his rough road to recovery on the season two premiere, which airs March 25.

KISS And Tell: KISS Comics Panel
From: WizardUniverse.com

Members of the audience at KISS COMICS GROUP's Wizard World L.A. panel wore the only makeup in the room Saturday. GENE SIMMONS and PAUL STANLEY showed up in street clothes to talk about their new comic book series KISS 4K: Legends Never Die, but a contingent of loyal KISS followers wore the group's trademark black and white face paint and brought plenty of questions for the pair.

Wizard Senior Staff Writer Mike Cotton moderated the panel, which also included Platinum Studios' Scott Rosenberg and KISS 4K writer Ricky Sprague. The hour-long event kickstarted with a video trailer of the comic, which was certified over the weekend by the Guinness Book of World Records as the biggest comic book of all time.

"Why can't KISS conquer the world, and why can't we have the biggest comic book in history?" Rosenberg posed, introducing the book. "The sheets from the book had to be hand-taken off of the press and hand-folded and hand-stitched," he explained. "It was an amazing amount of work."

School Charity Event
From: GeneSimmons.com

I was proud to be a part of a School Charity Concert Event in support of the Wildwood School. The funds raised, went to inner city kids to give them a chance at a better education.
I was handed the job of putting some of the talent together. TOMMY THAYER immediately said yes. STEWART COPELAND, who was in the midst of the upcoming POLICE rehearsals likewise committed. And, STEVEN STILLS, he of BUFFALO SPRINGFIELD, MANASSAS, and of course CROSBY STILLS & NASH joined the fun . I ran into blues legend SOLOMON BURKE at another event, and only had to ask once if he'd help. He didn't hesitate.
REBA MACCINTIRE, TRACY ULLMAN, and other terrific talent also joined in on the fun.
Everyone did a set, Stewart Copeland played with Steven Stills' band. Steven's daughter and son played in his band. .
And then, Tommy and I (with Darren and Fran) played DEUCE and DR. LOVE.
What happened next can only be described as "hold on to your seat belts. It's gonna get bumpy".... I introduced the powerful NICK TWEED SIMMONS, then SOLOMON BURKE, STEVEN STILLS and STEWART COPELAND... and we all jammed!!!
First, we did a boogie blues jam in A. Solomon yelled out the riff, we immediately copied it and went off. We came up for air about 10 minutes later to huge applause.
And then, the highlight of the evening. The School Jazz Band (all 15 of them, with their guitars, keyboards, basses and drums) ran out on stage and the entire ensemble played, jammed and soloed with the Doors' ROADHOUSE BLUES, -- NICK and SOLOMON BURKE trading lead vocals.
We filmed the event for our GENE SIMMONS FAMILY JEWELS.
A night to remember.

Gene And Nick At WizardWorld This Weekend

GENE SIMMONS and his son Nick Simmons will be appearing at the WizardWorld Los Angeles Comic Convention at the IDW Publishing panel on Saturday, March 17 at 11 AM to discuss their latest comic book venture, detailed below!

He has the most famous tongue in the world. He created the two-fingered "horns" salute everyone uses at sports events (and, of course, they all stick their tongues out while doing the salute). Did we mention he also spits fire, throws up blood and has probably bedded down your sister?

Mostly, he has grown up with, deeply loves and knows more about comic books than you would imagine. He will reel off who lettered (!!!) the first six issues of almost any Marvel comic, and tell you with certainty about the history of the medium (whether you ask him to or not). So great is his love for the art form, that his college paper was (rightfully) called 'THE SOCIAL SIGNIFICANCE OF THE PANEL GRAPHIC ART FORM. Grade? A+. And, when this soon-to-be Demon was teaching sixth grade in Spanish Harlem (!!!), he brought in a Spider-Man comic to use as a teaching device.

The Wizard Q&A: GENE SIMMONS
From: WizardUniverse.com

GENE SIMMONS knows comics. Long before KISS' charismatic, long-tongued "Demon" became a rock 'n' roll icon, he was writing and "publishing" a slew of fanzines for industrious teens like himself. Thus, when Marvel released the first KISS comics (Marvel Comics Super Special #1 and #5) in 1977 and '78, Simmons was beside himself with fanboy glee. "To fall in love with Marvel books," says Simmons, "and then to finally become a Marvel superhero and see myself battling Dr. Doom in the very first KISS comic book..."

Other KISS-related comics followed throughout the years including KISS: The Psycho Circus (1997-2000) from Image and Dark Horse's KISS (2002-03). And now, Simmons has teamed up with Platinum Studios to form the KISS Comics Group, which will release KISS 4K (written by Richard Sprague) in May as well as KISS Girls, a female-driven spin-off, next summer.

Instead of not-so-subtly "ignoring" the previous incarnations, 4K will allow the foursome to actually travel between the universes first seen in the earlier Marvel, Dark Horse and Image versions. Platinum will launch this new venture with a special $50 "Destroyer Edition" of the book which will be a massive, non-bathroom-reading 30-by-18 inches. (Check out KISScomicsgroup.com for availability.)

Tommy's Report On Visit To Camp Pendleton
From: TommyThayer.com

Gene and I visited the Marines of Camp Pendleton this last Friday March 9th to perform at a rally for the troops in honor of all US Armed Forces. We played a medley of the Armed Forces anthems to members of the Army, Navy, Air Force and the Marines to a packed house at the base theater. I've never felt so welcome. The troops kept telling us "Thank you for being here," and I had to keep telling them, "No, it's our honor to be here; thank you for everything that you are doing for us and our country!" The entire event was filmed for GENE SIMMONS Family Jewels which will air on Memorial Day weekend in May on A&E.

Here's a photo of Gene and Tommy from their visit yesterday with the Marines of Camp Pendleton. During their visit, Gene and Tommy performed a tribute show at the base in honor of all US Armed Forces!

Comment from Gene:

"Our military men and women don't do it for fame or money. The least we can do, is look them in the eye and tell them what they did matters. No matter your political point of view. Offer a Vet your seat on the train, offer them a cup of coffee. At the very least, thrust your arm forward and shake the hand of a HERO."

Native Tounge
From: AllHipHop.com

Those who can remember the early '80s when Punk Rock and Hip-Hop convened in the wee hours of the night (think Blondie) know that Hip-Hop influence extended beyond Kangols and Cazals even back then. One line in the sand that appeared to be crystal clear was the division between Hard Rock and Hip-Hop - separate fan bases, different art cultures, and unrelated philosophies in marketing to the world.

When KISS released their debut album in 1974, their wild makeup and heavy sound set the pace for theatrics in music that many tried to bite, but few could master. Spearheaded by business-minded bassist GENE SIMMONS and singer/songwriter/guitarist PAUL STANLEY, KISS flew to the top of the charts with multiple hits. In the '80s, they re-invented themselves, sans make-up, then joined up again in 1996 for an amazingly successful reunion tour. Between public appearances and a diverse merchandising plan, GENE SIMMONS has kept the KISS name alive for over three decades now.

While we may not have initially seen the similarities between Hard Rock and Hip-Hop, it seems as though everything has come full circle. GENE SIMMONS may understand better than anyone in Hip-Hop today what truly inspires a "movement," and he definitely understands the power of saying your own name. (Who!?) The busy Rock star took a few moments away from hot chicks and paparazzi at February’s MAGIC show in Las Vegas to talk to us about his new GENE SIMMONS Money Bag clothing line, his GENE SIMMONS Family Jewels television show, and just how great it is to be as badass as GENE SIMMONS.

Rock & Roll Fantasy Camp
From: KISSOnline

Hey Paul,

I wanted to take a moment and express my deepest and most sincere gratitude for you performing with us at the house of blues in LA for the Rock and Roll Fantasy Camp. I had the honor of being in Bruce's band, on stage I was the one wearing the crinkled cowboy hat. Bruce was so excited about you coming to the camp and all of us in his band are huge KISS fans so it was a BIG deal for us all. When you stopped by Saturday to say hello to everyone and do a run through with the song it was amazing, almost a surreal experience. One I am still not able to get over and there really are not any words that could describe it, lets just say it was the single greatest experience in my life, being able to perform with you. I came up to you after our performance at the House of Blues and said "I've always wondered what I would say to you if I ever had the chance to meet you. I now know what that would be, thank you for all the years of music you have given us and me!". As I forced that out I began to get a bit emotional as you are my music idol. You said thank you and patted me on my shoulder as to say it's all good, and thanks, at least that is how it felt to me. You took the time to take a picture with myself and my wife who about passed out, and you also took a moment to sign my tattoo on my right shoulder. It is the Psycho looking guy in your Star Child makeup with the Psycho Circus banner around him.

This entire experience meant the world to me, as you are the reason I went to the camp. I want to say again, thank you for doing what you did, you truly made a KISS fan's dream come true.

Gene recently asked Tommy to join him to perform at a rally for the US Armed Forces at Camp Pendleton on Friday, March 9th. The ensuing concert performance will be filmed for an upcoming GENE SIMMONS Family Jewels television special airing Memorial Day Weekend in May on A&E. After visiting the Marines at Camp Pendleton recently, Gene had the idea that he'd like to give back to the troops and perform at a rally for the Army, Navy, Air Force and Marines. Tommy and Gene devised a medley of the famed Army, Navy, Air Force and Marine anthems à la rock & roll style, which they will perform together onstage with the Camp Pendleton Marine band.

Paul's Manhattan Art Show

PAUL STANLEY presented his art, as well as himself, last Saturday at the Jacob Javits Center in New York City. Here is one fan's story and photos of this exciting event:

Paul arrived a bit early for his scheduled 1-3p time at the show, and also stayed until around 3:45p. There weren't too many people at the Celebrity Publishing Booth lined up to see him, unlike other appearances, where it is absolutely mobbed with KISS and Paul fans. I recognized a few fans from the annualNY/NJ KISS expo standing there and said hi. I snapped as many pictures as I could of Paul which was difficult because of security. For the most part, people were only there to catch a glimpse or autograph, not to buy his beautiful art, because, let's face it, the common fan cannot afford what it being charged for those pieces. What has been shown on Websites doesn't do his art justice, let me tell you. To see it all in person - it's almost too much! the colors are gorgeous, and many different sizes were on display.

From: Classic Rock Revisited

Jeb Wright recently interviewed VH1-Classic's Eddie Trunk. Eddie spoke about KISS, ACE FREHLEY, and other artists. A portion of the inteview is below, you can read the entire interview at www.classicrockrevisited.com

Jeb: I want to go WAY back.... I have heard the band that got you totally hooked into hard rock was KISS. For me it was Sabbath. Why KISS? What was it about that band that got to you?

Eddie: It was everything. The look, the sound, the show. Up til that point I was into pop little kid stuff, then a friend turned me on to Destroyer and it all changed. I remember the needle hitting the vinyl, hearing "Detroit Rock City" and just staring that the album cover. It was all over after that! KISS was also my first concert 12/16/77 at Madison Square Garden.

KISS Goodbye To The Glamour
From: The West Australian

Gone on the record is all the glitz, glamour and posturing of KISS. Stanley has opted for a much more stripped down approach on Live to Win.

"You can put a lot of window dressing on it but ultimately it's about a great song. The people I have written with, like Desmond Child and Andreas Carlsson, are people I like to work with."

The stage is a magic place for Stanley. The veteran of more than 100 million album sales for KISS says his solo album and the subsequent US tour has reignited his love for music and the reason he started playing in the first place.

GENE SIMMONS Family Jewels Season 2
From: USA Today

Simmons and Tweed put on a good face for 'Family Jewels' GENE SIMMONS and longtime companion Shannon Tweed were hoping to make the second season of A&E's half-hour reality series GENE SIMMONS Family Jewels, premiering March 25 (9 p.m. ET/PT), less intrusive for themselves and their two teenagers.

So why did the KISS frontman and former Playboy Playmate of the Year decide to go for dual face lifts on two episodes airing April 1? "Honest to God, it just sort of happened," says Simmons, 57, who had a face lift and liposuction, to be featured on two April 1 episodes. What you'll see, according to Simmons, is "like a biology class … more fascinating than gory." Tweed, who turns 50 March 10, had her face lift done by the same Beverly Hills surgeon. "Plastic surgery was Gene's idea. But I wasn't going to let him look younger than me," she says.

Family Jewels averaged 1.3 million viewers last season, A&E's highest-rated original series since 2004's Dog the Bounty Hunter. That led to this new 20-episode season. "They are an incredibly functional, loving family," says Robert Sharenow, A&E's chief of non-fiction programming. "It's surprising and unexpected."
