From: KISS YOU WANTED THE BEST WEBCOMIC? YOU GOT THE BEST WEBCOMIC! AVAILABLE NOW! KISS 4K - THE WEBCOMIC - The supplement to the new KISS 4K ISSUE #1 hit bookstore shelves everywhere today. Beginning today, and continuing indefinitely, we'll first be taking a look at a previous incarnation of the Starchild: Giacomo Casanova, and then continuing on with former versions of KISS 4K as well as additional original bonus material coming straight out of the pages of the KISS 4K print comic. In the initial storyline we see Casanova, heralded as the greatest lover in history, how he used the empathic powers of the Starchild, and how the powers sometimes used him. Updated Monday, Wednesday and Friday at http://www.drunkduck.com/KISS_4K_the_webcomic . From: Bravewords/Bloody Knuckles Founding member of KISS, PETER CRISS, has been out of the spotlight since his abrupt departure from the ‘hottest band in the land’ a few years ago, but this cat hasn’t gone away. Luckily for KISS fans everywhere, Peter is back with One For All – a pensive and personal collection of ballads, and it was with great pleasure that I sat down with the Catman to discuss his latest album and future projects. Mitch Lafon: Tell me about One For All. How did the music come about? PETER CRISS: "The last run of the KISS tour with AEROSMITH without Ace (who I miss dearly). I had a hard time getting through that thing, but a contract is a contract. But the reason for this (ballad album) is that I had a huge hit with ‘Beth’ for my band KISS and for me as a songwriter. It’s the 48th most played ballad in the world. Every night, I went out to sing it, I loved it. It was great! It was the thrill of my life and I realized I like singing ballads and I’m a hopeless romantic metal brain. I’m still metal man and I’ve not changed just because I’m putting out a ballad album. I just finished my rock album with my guitarist and it’s kick ass. It’ll be out next year with the grace of God. But ballads are my thing and I wanted to do something very autobiographical besides doing a book. I didn’t feel by screaming or playing it in a rock/hard rock fashion that it would explain the trip that I’m going on on this CD. It’s a trip of where my life has been and gone. The ups and downs of these last ten years of being back with the guys, losing friends, making friends, becoming idiots and making the same mistakes again, repeating ourselves in the same stupid ways... just all of it and the fans! Always the fans with me. ‘Faces In The Crowd’ is a song I dedicate to the fans for the wonderful life they’ve given me and if it sounds like I’m sticking my nose up their ass... good! Because I have a beautiful house and drive a nice car because of the fans that have bought my music. I grew up poor in Brooklyn, so I’m well aware of coming from ‘down there.’ So, I thought of all of this and I wrote two songs for the fans (the other one is called ‘Memories’). I wrote a song called ‘Space Ace’. Strictly wrote it for Ace because I felt so near and dear to him. We always were the closest and I started missing Ace a lot. I recorded a song my mother loved to sing as a kid – ‘What A Difference A Day Makes’ – so old that it’ll never go over in the world of metal and they’ll probably condemn me for it, but my mom dug it, so I sang it." [more] From: KISSOnline My name is Chad Miller. I was born on May 5, 1990 in San Bernardino California. I am 17 years old. I have one older brother, (David) three sister's (Amy, Michele and Barbi), and one nephew ( Seth). I live with my father, (Brian) and my mother ( Sherrie), and two of my sisters. I am the youngest of the family. I was first introduced to KISS at an early age around seven years old. Instantly they became my favorite band. For years I dressed up as GENE SIMMONS for Halloween and my friends would dress up as the rest of the band. It was a lot of fun and people said we LOOKED GOOD. I wanted to play the guitar and did for a while, but the drums interested me also. I began putting a drum set together and practicing. I now have a band that I am the drummer in. [more] From: KULICK.net I thought it would be hard to compete with having rock bass legend Jack Bruce visit and jam with the campers, but day two was another dream come true. I knew this camp would take me and my camper band to Abbey Road, but I didn't realize we would record in the same studio as the best group in rock and roll, THE BEATLES! Studio two at Abbey Road is where magic happened and changed our lives, and my campers were to have quite a special experience. After we signed in, we were given a little tour of the place before having us settle into the large and holy room simply called "Studio 2." We all had our mouths open from all the pictures in our minds of The Beatles we had seen creating their masterpieces in that studio. How would you like to walk up THE piano Paul McCartney recorded "Hey Jude" on!? I was having an out of body experience sitting down and playing a few bars from that song as my campers all gathered around in disbelief. The sound was there! From: EddieTrunk.com Stopped by an visited my old friend ACE FREHLEY last night at the NYC studio where he is now mixing his upcoming CD. Ace is doing so well, is totally healthy and just in a great place now. I am very proud of him. Ace has recorded 10 new songs so far and is completing 3 to use as a demo for now. I can tell you there is some strong label interest so he will no doubt have several options to release it. I heard 2 of the 3 new songs that are being finalized and I must say I was really impressed with them. It is classic sounding Ace singing and playing. One track had a vocal from Ace that almost had a Beatles type vibe, but still rockin. You will also be happy to know that Ace plays all guitar and sings all vocals. The recordings were made with a trio of Ace, Anton Fig on drums and new bassist Anthony Esposito (Lynch Mob). The touring band will be Ace, Anthony and other players TBA. Ace also told me he wrote all the songs just before going into the studio, so this is all fresh stuff. I'm really excited by the two songs I heard. It is by far the most "Kiss-like" music from any past or present member of the bands respective solo albums. We hung out for a couple hours, talked about the old days and had some Japanese food. Really fun night and was great to see him as always. More news when I can share it and of course keep an ear on the radio shows and to this site for all the exclusive Ace news and music. Ace is back! PS: There is NO set release date or live shows yet, when there is I will post! Eddie Trunk From: WishTV.com INDIANAPOLIS - Every year Indianapolis rolls out the red carpet on the night before the 500 mile race. Saturday night there were limos, the red carpet, celebrities and fans. No, it wasn't a Hollywood awards show. It was the Regions Bank 500 Festival Snakepit Ball. "This event gets bigger and more fun I think with every year that goes by," Scott Thiems, Exec. VP of Regions Bank said. It is one of the city's most popular events. And when the legendary KISS front man is ready to go, you'd better have your recorder handy, because he's always got something incendiary to say. The "king of all beasts" (his words) cannot be tamed—at least not by anyone other than longtime girlfriend, former Playmate Shannon Tweed, and their two children, Sophie, 14, and Nick, 18. Their efforts are chronicled in the A&E reality series GENE SIMMONS Family Jewels, currently in its second season. In honor of Memorial Day, Simmons recently taped a special one-hour episode in which he and daughter Sophie get a taste for basic training at Camp Pendleton in San Diego, then visit wounded soldiers at a veterans hospital in Long Beach. I am thrilled to be in London, birth place of what moved me to play guitar. From the Beatles to Cream to the Rolling Stones to Led Zep and Queen, you all know what kind of music has come from the UK. And today I had one of my most memorable experiences in my life. I jammed in a trio with Jack Bruce and Simon Kirke (drums) from Free and Bad Company, along with Spike Edney (keys) from Queen, on two Cream classics, "Sunshine Of Your Love" and "White Room." What can I say other that I am freaking out that I jammed with one of my biggest idols and influences! Jack was totally a gentleman at the camp, and he jammed a bit with ALL the bands. But for me to play "Clapton" to his brilliance, is just so a life dream. Yes, the counselors get those dreams made. And I will never forget today. We were jamming like Cream in 1968, and the fact that he enjoyed the jam made me feel like my college professor gave me a high mark in life. To read entire Blog Post check out Bruce's website. I was just a little kid back then. Iwent to a record store and thought I'd buy just the KISS album - I didn't know that there were plenty of KISS albums. I was like, 'Whoah! So many to choose from!' I had no idea where to start - I thought Destroyer was the coolest. "It has so much nostalgia for me. It has God Of Thunder - my all-time favorite song from KISS - one of my favorite songs period. I remember the first time I was listening to the album, with all the theatrical parts - the few seconds of 'radio theatre,' if you will, at the beginning [of Detroit Rock City]. I was scared shitless! It was terrifying. But I loved it! "KISS have so many different albums and so many different musical styles it's like a deck of cards. Destroyer is different. I think it's the first big-sounding album KISS did. The first three albums are more like rock 'n roll albums; Destroyer is a huge album. It doesn't matter how low the volume, it sounds big. Of course, there are so many production tricks, with the piano powering up the chords, and the orchestrations and stuff. I think a lot of thanks goes to [producer] Bob Ezrin, because the next album that really sticks out in the KISS catalogue is The Elder [1981], which is Bob Ezrin again. I have been with the KISS Army forever, and the Air Force for 17 years. I want you to know how much you are appreciated as a member of KISS, and your undaunted support for the troops. I truly enjoyed meeting you on the Rock The Nation Tour backstage, it was an honor to meet such humble person. Good luck to you and all your endeavors, and I can't wait to see you and/or your work, which is truly first class. Thanks for all you do. - Brent Mickley, Ellsworth Air Force Base, South Dakota Answer: Brent, It means a lot to hear from you and your kind words. I really do appreciate what a fantastic job you and all US Armed Forces are doing. Many people take it for granted and they don't understand that we wouldn't have a United States of America if it weren't for you, defending our liberty and freedoms. All the best to you, TOMMY Question 2: Hi TOMMY, I love your guitar style. It is reminds me some of Steve Clark/Def Leppard style. Anyway, about your guitar gear... Do you prefer Les Pauls that have a wide 50's neck or slim 60's? Do you also use stock Gibson pickups or aftermarket Duncans?
