VH1's Fanclub: KISS - Ron's Story
From: Ron Ivanjack
I wanted to introduce myself. My name is Ron Ivanjack. I'm 25 and have been a Kiss fan since I was 4. For that reason, I was thrilled when I was selected to be featured on the new VH-1 show Fan Club. I sent in an email describing how Kiss affects my daily life just like hundreds of others but VH1 and I corresponded back and forth several times before they asked me to submit a 30-minute video. A few days later it was set-VH-1 was coming to film me. The only hang-up was that they wanted to film me at work but my company is privately owned and very protective. I had to plead to the heads of the Human Resources and Legal departments. Fortunately both knew what a big Kiss fan I am and we received global approval.
On a Friday in August, VH-1 arrived at my office to film me. After that we headed to my house for some footage of my home and an interview with my fiancée and me. The next day we went to the reception hall for my wedding for final preparations and then it was off to my wedding shower. The cake featured a picture of my fiancée and I dressed as Gene and Paul. After a few hours off, we reconvened at my house for my big solo interview. Once that was done, I was filmed getting into my Paul make-up and costume and we headed to downtown Chicago to a bar with karaoke. The line extended around the block to get in but we walked right past the line and I was whisked into a backstage area. I really felt like a rock star. After a few minutes, I hit the stage for Rock and Roll All Nite. The place went nuts.
A few days before my wedding, VH1 asked if they could film that too. After a little convincing, my fiancée agreed to share the most important day of our lives with Kiss (like we do most days). I wasnt able to sneak too much Kiss into a Catholic wedding but my groomsmen and myself wore blue with our tuxes for Ace. After exchanging vows, my first word down the aisle was Aces Ack!!
The reception was full of Kiss references. Instead of numbering each table, they were marked by bands-of course Kiss was the head table. The grooms cake had a lighted Kiss logo and the 4 bendable Kiss figures on it. We also drank from our Kiss goblets. The introduction was a recreation of Kiss entrance. The bridal party was introduced to Wont Get Fooled Again. Just like at the shows, the volume rose during the last big drum break. I then used a live recording for that familiar drone and the intro was replaced with You wanted the best, you got the best, the hottest newlyweds in the worldthe Ivanjacks. We emerged from a cloud of smoke to Psycho Circus and threw guitar picks with our name and the date imprinted on them. Our first dance was naturally Beth.
Here are the dates that the show is airing:
