NASCAR.com's Interview With Gene Simmons
From: NASCAR.com via Steffan
Since I myself had some trouble finding it on the Nascar site, I decided to post a transcript of the chat session. Paul did not attend, so Gene did it all for approx. 30 min.

[NASCAR_Host3] Welcome to NASCAR.com's chat with Gene
Simmons of KISS!
[Gene_Simmons] Hello everybody. It is an honor to be here. I
am looking forward to seeing all your faces at the Busch and
Winston Cup races Saturday and Sunday. I am very excited! I
am sure you are, too. Also, and let me add personally it is an
honor to have Sterling Marlin driving the KISS car. May the best
man win!
[NASCAR_Host3] Question from: [RoryGentry] What made you
guys decide to sponsor a Winston Cup car? Any plans of doing
this again for the Indy 500, or other race events?
[Gene_Simmons] We would love to
be involved with the Indy 500 and
it is simply a matter of the politics
behind the scenes. We decided to
get involved with NASCAR because
NASCAR is the home of champions.
[NASCAR_Host3] Question from: [MichaelNYC] Hi! Are there
plans for co-branding KISS with any other non music-related
entities, similar to NASCAR?
[Gene_Simmons] Thank you for
the question. Yes. There are so
many other co-brandings coming
up that it would make your head
spin, including KISS Kondoms.
[NASCAR_Host3] Question from:
[Kissed] GENE: Will you be coming
out to Australia to promote your book? If so, when?
[Gene_Simmons] Thank you. "KISS and Makeup" is coming out
December the 11th from Crown Books and I would love to go to
Australia, but no plans yet.
[NASCAR_Host3] Question from: [Go Ryan Go] Hey Gene, have
a great time at Homestead! I cannot wait to read the book. Rock
& Roll all weekend and be safe.
[Gene_Simmons] Thanks for the good wishes. Obviously,
everyone be safe.
[NASCAR_Host3] Question from: [DaleJrFanRI ] Hello Gene,
when will the Farewell Tour resume? I have attended two of the
concerts so far and I would LOVE to be at the last one. Can you
give me any hints as to when/where it will be?
[Gene_Simmons] Now is not a good time to travel
internationally, so KISS is taking a year off. We have yet to play
South America, Europe, Asia and Africa and are looking forward
to doing so sometime in the future.
[NASCAR_Host3] Question from: [ericcarr] GENE: Will you or
Paul be doing any other in-store appearances for the new box
set besides California?
[Gene_Simmons] I don't know anything more than you do. I
just work here.
[NASCAR_Host3] Question from: [kissmepleaze] Gene, I've
seen the KISS brand on a lot of products. Are there any
endorsements that you wish you had not made? And, what is
the strangest product you had to turn down?
[Gene_Simmons] We are proud of every endorsement, and we
have turned down cigarettes and hard liquor and will continue to
turn that down.
[NASCAR_Host3] Question from: [Brack17] Gene,
congratulations on being the HOTTEST BAND IN THE LAND!!! It's
great that you are getting into NASCAR and being idolized on
Sterling's car. He is a great driver. Have you ever attended a
race before or is this the first for you?
[Gene_Simmons] This is going to be my first time and both Paul
and I are looking forward to seeing you all out there.
[NASCAR_Host3] Question from: [LadyinWaiting] Hey Gene,
ever considered having a benefit dinner with your number one
fans? I would LOVE to buy a meal ticket for the night just to
finally meet you guys. No stage performance, no pressure on
y'all, just good company and good conversation.
[Gene_Simmons] Do you have a pretty sister?
[NASCAR_Host3] Question from: [almosthuman] Gene, are
there any plans for a KISS biography giving the dirt/goods on
the band with input from all of you? I know there was KISStory
1 & 2, but I mean more like a novel type book.
[Gene_Simmons] You may want to pick up "KISS and Makeup,"
which you can preorder by logging on to KISSOnline.com.
[NASCAR_Host3] Question from: [Starsinmyeyes] Hi Gene, I
wanted to express my deepest gratitude to you for all the years
of entertainment you have given us. My question is: Musically,
have you accomplished all that you've ever wanted to and can
we expect to see you recording and performing in the future on
solo projects?
[Gene_Simmons] Thank you. The box set, which is the mother
of all box sets, is coming November 20th. Again, you can
preorder at KISSOnline.com. As for more recording, we will
have to wait and see.
[NASCAR_Host3] Question from: [Nitestarr] Gene, regarding the
new animated series, are you guys going to be doing the
voices?
[Gene_Simmons] KISS and Mainframe are doing a joint
venture, KISS Superhero CGI show. This means it will not be
animated. It will be all computerized and state-of-the-art. That
should be forthcoming within the year.
[NASCAR_Host3] Question from: [Hotstuff7] What's the craziest
thing a fan has ever done for you?
[Gene_Simmons] Serviced me. God Bless America.
[NASCAR_Host3] Question from: [Cold Gin] I was in Australia
recently and was amazed by the amount of fans and
merchandise over there. I picked up a number of KISS
collectibles I've never seen here in the States.
[Gene_Simmons] Please reach me through KISSOnline.com. I
would be curious what those KISS collectibles actually were. I
collect KISS, you see.
[NASCAR_Host3] Question from: [Brad34] Hello Gene, with all
of the concert footage that you have available, will you ever
release complete concerts on video and DVD from past years?
Thanks for the great memories and music!
[Gene_Simmons] Yes, lots of stuff coming, all in due time.
[NASCAR_Host3] Question from: [onecowboytoo] What do you
think of file sharing services such as Napster and Morpheus?
[Gene_Simmons] I am not a fan (nor is the United States
government) of an artist's work being downloaded, copied, or in
any sold without the artist's permission.
[NASCAR_Host3] Question from: [Rich Toland-] Hi Gene, as a
longtime KISS fan I'm familiar with your relationships with
professional sports. Are you a sports fan yourself? If so, what
sports?
[Gene_Simmons] Indoor.
[NASCAR_Host3] Question from: [GenesDream]
Congratulations on your new endeavors with NASCAR. With the
notoriety you receive in the Rock and Roll world and the other
areas of the entertainment business, how do you feel your
involvement with NASCAR and the fan base for that organization
will be received and are you looking to acquire a new, untapped
fan base?
[Gene_Simmons] Quite honestly you have thought this out
much deeper than I have. I am just happy I don't have to work
for a living, thanks to you!
[NASCAR_Host3] Question from: [lhw] Gene, will you get to
take a ride in the KISS Kar? Maybe drive?
[Gene_Simmons] Boy would I love that.
[NASCAR_Host3] Question from: [Paul J Hawkins Jr] Hello Gene!
How did you go about choosing a car to sponsor?
[Gene_Simmons] Like all great things, it happened naturally,
right place, right time, right people. NASCAR, KISS and Sterling
Marlin sounds good to me.
[NASCAR_Host3] Question from: [kisskrazed] Gene, how
involved were you with Action Performance on designing the
die-cast?
[Gene_Simmons] I wish I could say I was involved even in
washing the car, but I was not, sadly.
[NASCAR_Host3] Question from: [Username] Hello Gene! I've
been a fan since the mid-70's and loved every minute of it! I
was wondering what other ventures you are involved in lately
such as TV and movies? Can't wait to read the book! Is there a
book signing scheduled for Arizona? Take Care!
[Gene_Simmons] If you want to find out everything about KISS,
you can log on to KISSOnline.com. If you want to find out what
I am doing outside of KISS, you can get the low down at
GeneSimmons.com.
[NASCAR_Host3] Question from: [budfanatic8] Gene, was your
collection of pictures ever returned to you after being stolen?
[Gene_Simmons] The answer is no. The pictures you are
referring to are some of the beautiful women that have graced
my life, but it was only that week's worth, so thank goodness. I
have wonderful pictures of almost all of the beautiful ladies who
have made every day of my life above ground a good day.
[NASCAR_Host3] Question from: [BRIANMAY] Have you ever
worked with Queen or some of the members of the group?
[Gene_Simmons] No.
[NASCAR_Host3] Question from: [hartigan] Gene, what is your
favorite CD, currently?
[Gene_Simmons] I suggest you pick up the Patsy Cline box set
or the newest Kid Rock, "Cocky."
[NASCAR_Host3] Question from: [barrman1] Hey Gene, I have
been a huge KISS fan for a while. I want to know who has been
the biggest influence on your career?
[Gene_Simmons] My mom. I know that sounds like a funny
answer, but the god's honest truth is she has influenced me
more than any other human being.
[NASCAR_Host3] Question from: [jimkiss] I've been a big fan
since '75 and I was just wondering how you decided to go on
Politically Incorrect. How did that come about? By the way, you
did a great job. I think you made the most sense out of
everyone.
[Gene_Simmons] Thank you for the kind words. Politically
Incorrect called me.
[NASCAR_Host3] Gene, thank you! That's all the time we have
this evening. Do you have any final thoughts?
[Gene_Simmons] On a final note, I want to thank you all from
the bottom of my heart for making all of our dreams come true.
I look forward to seeing you all at NASCAR.
