Here's your chance to do the Yuletide thing a whole new way AND rock in the year 2000 with KISSmas 2000, the first Christmas plate ever created to celebrate KISS. This 8 1/8" plate features the original members of KISS - Gene Simmons, Paul Stanley, Ace Frehley and Peter Criss - the ones who are ringing in the new century with their spectacular Psycho Circus album and tour. The plate comes with its own stand is sequentially numbered - all this and it retails for only $35. A 3 1/4" version of the plate is also available in open edition. The mini plate is pierced so it can be used as a hanging ornament, and retails for $17. That's the good news - the bad news is that only 10,000 of the 8 1/8" plates will be made. Thatıs less than the number of people who attend ONE concert. And you know what happens to the price of KISS memorabilia once it sells out and reaches the secondary market! Rock in the Millennium with KISS and KISSmas 2000. Never before has the legendary KISS been commemorated on a Christmas plate, or on a collectible that highlights the Year 2000. Preorder your KISSmas 2000 for yourself or your favorite KISS fan. Remember. . .this is a limited edition. Play Scrooge too long and youıll be stuck with Dickens and fruitcake for another year!

KISS "Got Milk?" & KISStory II News
From: Metal Edge
KISS' Got Milk? ad, which will first appear next month in Rolling Stone, will show the band with chocolate milk moustaches because the white stuff didn't show up on their whiteface makeup. "We tried it both ways," says Gene Simmons, who reveals that corn syrup was mixed with the moo juice to make it thicker. The ad copy borrows an appropriate song title, "Lick it Up," and reads in part, "Every drop of chocolate milk has the same vitamins and minerals that regular milk has. All the more reason to have a really long tongue." In other KISS print news, the second Psycho Circus magazine, compiling the most recent issues of the Psycho Circus comic, is due next month, and KISSTORY 2: Toys, Games & Girls Collector's Bible is being printed now. There will also be an official Detroit Rock City magazine to time with the release of the movie in mid-August.

Julian Gill Comments On KISS Album Focus
From: Julian Gill
Where's the focus? - I have receiving a temendous amount of email from fans wondering what's going on with the KISS Album Focus. A few email bombs too, but that's rather counterproductive! Well, let's see... I have a job that takes up a tremendous amount of time and effort - my kingdom for a 40 hour week!! As such my available time has been extremely limited in recent months to give the focus the attention it needs... Y2k, keeping some people employed, and keeping some ulcers happy ;) Several other projects have been eating up 100% of my free time, not only my KISS F.A.Q. Some may remember the short lived KISS Files, a fanzine based on the FAQ which had a distribution of 10 copies, a 65 page monster, I have been working on a revamped version of this, and while I'm not sure of what will come of it, it's still taking a lot of effort... And then there are my attempts to organize a Peter Criss Tribute album... While that is in its very early stages, and while nothing may come of it, it's something I'd still like to see if it's possible to do. I've also had some major computer problems of my own with 40Gb of hard drives deciding to go nuclear, leaving my system out of commission (thankfully, I backup alot of the stuff on it, but not all which causes the problem:) So, where's the focus? Well, my focus has been elsewhere! One thing I can promise is that the Rock And Roll Over focus will debut shortly. Thanks to all of those who emailed for their interest in the project.
A Few Words From Dale Sherman
From: Dale Sherman
Folks, the final two chapters of the KISS novel, A WORLD WITHOUT HEROES, will be up on KISS ASYLUM by the end of the first week in May. I appreciate your enthusiasm and patience, but I'm getting swamped with e-mail from people asking when Chapters 24 & 25 will appear! If I keep writing back to everyone I'll never get the chapters finished. So trust me, unless I get hit by a car during the next week, you will see the conclusion of the novel before the first week of May is out. This Sunday, May 2nd, I will be appearing at the KISS Freaks booth (along with Tony Record and Bill Starky) at the KISS Expo in Indianapolis. I'll have some promotional material for the new Alice book there for everyone along with a few copies of the BD books to autograph as well. I've been cleaning out the closets and am getting rid of some KISS stuff as well, so come on by if you get the chance. Finally, check out the first issue of CLOWNWHITE if you can. The first issue will include Part One of an interview I did with Kenny Kerner for BD3, and Kerner had a lot of great stories to tell about the band. Again, thanks for all of the interest. You'll be hearing from me again soon!

He said "You want to make it, do it your way. Don't listen to people like us, were already here."

Indy Expo: Rockheads CD & Andre's Book
From: KISS Asylum
Here's the latest info on the Indy KISS Expo. There have been some reports and rumors that the full length Eric Carr/Rockheads CD will be debuted and played in its enirety for the first time at this Expo. Bruce Kulick and the Expo's promoter Keith Laroux assured KISS ASYLUM that those reports are not true and they wanted to clear up any confusion that these reports might have created for fans on this matter. The full length Eric/Rockheads CD has not even been completed at this stage (the master is still being assembled) and so the plans are only to debut 1 or 2 new songs from the CD at Indy. Keith Laroux also wanted to be sure fans are aware that guest Andre Augustine (former KISS Head of Security/Road Manager) will be taking his first ever live Q&A from the fans at the Indy Expo. Additionally, Andre will be debuting details of his upcoming book about his time with KISS, "Guardian of the Gods." The Indy Expo takes place May 2nd at the Four Points Sheraton Hotel from 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Gene Comment In Allure Magazine
From: Shandy & Scarlett
In the April 99 issue of "ALLURE" magazine, there's a feature where they ask different celebs whether they consider themselves to be "high-maitenance or low-maitenance" when it comes to getting ready for a big night out at an awards show. They bumped into gene in the hallway of The Shrine Auditorium during the AMA, while he was in full make-up and costume. When asked if he was high or low maitenance, he replied, "Definately high-maitenance!" And he also joked that it takes him two hours to get ready, but is sometimes able to save time because the guy who flies the plane is also their make-up artist!

KISS & Pro Wrestling
From: Dave Scherer / 1wrestling.com via flythe@3rddoor.com
I thought all KISS fans might get a kick out of this report on 1wrestling.com. Apparently the wrestling world wants a piece of KISS The following report is courtesy of TRC Online's Steve Slagle: According to 1Wrestling.com's Dave Scherer, the World Wrestling Federation has contacted Doc McGhee of McGhee
Entertainment, the management of KISS, about acquiring the rights to create a wrestler based on the trademarked KISS characters. Although it is doubtful that Paul
Stanley and/or Gene Simmons (who are both extremely protective of the KISS gimmick, and have sued other music acts, most notably King Diamond, for using the white/black facepaint) would agree to the WWF's request, the idea may still see the light of day. Being perhaps the single most merchandised band in the history of rock `n roll, the members of KISS have never let a good promotional angle pass them by -- no matter how "tasteless" the idea may be. However, considering the fact that neither Stanley or Simmons are wrestling fans, they certainly don't need any (more) money, and given the fact that the band (allegedly) turned down a request by WCW for them to perform at Halloween Havoc a few years ago, it seems that "The Hottest Band in the Land" will more than likely stay out of the wrestling business.

Issue 26 of Famous Monsters Of Filmland includes an interview with Gene, in
which he shares his take on classic horror as he talks about growing up during the sixties' monster craze. The issue is kind of a special KISS collector's issue as it comes with four attached covers, each featuring either Gene, Paul, Peter or Ace. One of the other features in the magazine is a pictorial tribute to one of Gene's biggest heros: Lon Chaney, also known as "The man of a thousand faces". Chaney, by the way, was one of the first to star as The Phantom Of The Opera, a role which will be portrayed by Paul later this year in the musical of the same name.

Togheter with that, KISS is the Artist of the Month in MTV Latin America (www.mtvla.com) so you can probably watch some of their classic video clips being shown in their daily schedule.

Paul Stanley Picks And Strings From Washburn
From: Steve Corral
I work at Guitar Showcase in San Jose on the weekends and I we have a display of Paul Stanley picks and strings from Washburn Guitars (the makers of his new signature guitar and his new Randall amps). The picks and strings, sold separately, come in a foil pack. The strings come in 9's and 10's and have a sticker included. They list for 10.95 per pack but sell at around $5. The picks are black and have a three color print of Paul's solo album on one side and his signature over the Washburn logo on the other. They list for $2.95. Pretty cool item for your collection even if you don't play guitar. I know the Ace Frehley Gibson strings have gone through their
third package change since I got my first pack from Ace himself at the NAMM
show in '95.
KISS Video Game To Use LithTech 3D Engine
From: Sean Caszatt
Here's some KISS news regarding the upcoming PC game, from a press release:
"Monolith Productions has licensed its LithTech 3D Engine to computer game developer Third Law Interactive (formerly Bloodshot) according to a press release issued by the company today. The LithTech 3D Engine will be used in Third Law Interactive's upcoming 3D action game KISS Psycho Circus: The Nightmare Child. Gathering of Developers will publish the game in the U.S. in early 2000. "We welcome Third Law as a valuable partner, given its high-profile development team and the wide appeal of its upcoming KISS game," notes Monolith CEO Jason Hall. "We intend to give them the kind of developer support that until now was unprecedented in the 3D engine licensing community. Our goal is to help make their game production advance swiftly, be more cost effective, and remain ahead of the 3D technology curve." "We licensed Monolith's LithTech Engine because of its superior technology. The engine scales to both low and high-end computers, therefore reaching a broad audience for which our KISS Psycho Circus game is intended," said Jonathan Wright, Third Law Interactive's lead programmer. "We also were impressed by Monolith's commitment to giving us unrivaled engine support."

Another $1,0000 KAOL Donation
From: Kathy Labonte
The KAOL CDs have raised yet another $1,000 installment for the Children's Hospital of Wisconsin. The check was just written which will be presented to the hospital on April 15th by KAOL Charity co-ordinator Tim Olp (TNTGB@aol.com). Part of the reason why we were able to make this donation right now was due to many of you here on the KISS ASYLUM website (as well as fans from the KISS bulletin board of AOL). We had a great response to last month's March special (where you were able to get a free copy of the original 1997 KAOL disc if you purchased the other two current releases "Creatures of The Net" and "Music From the Folder '99"). A lot of you wrote that you saw the special posted here on the KISS ASYLUM. A HUGE thank you to all who sent in the orders. We did very well with that offer bringing in something like over $800 in sales. After paying some of our overhead including several hundreds of dollars in song royalties in February, we were able to put almost all of the money brought in from the March special towards this new donation. So you guys can know that this time, your money went directly to the kids and not just to any of the usual overhead costs. With all of the KAOL donations plus some additional fundraising that Tim did on the side, we should be in the ballpark of $3,700 total at this point. That's from KISS fans all over the world! I have yet to see another fan club pull together like that. The KISS Army and it's 90s child, The KISS Army OnLine (KAOL) are unique indeed. We are for all practical purposes, sold out of "Creatures Of The Net" now. We literally have 6 copies left. We will be re-pressing it but not until early next year. In the meantime, we have the upcoming KAOL 3 to produce and another exciting project that is going to be released before KAOL 3. An announcement about that will follow this weekend - we expect this additional project to bring in several thousand dollars all on it's own. Thanks again to everyone who took advantage of the March special. Tim will have a story and pics of the actual check presentation soon available on our MusiCare Online website. www.musicareonline.org If you STILL haven't ordered a KAOL CD, do it now!

Cheap Trick is reportedly confirmed to contribute "Surrender" (Click Here To Download The MP3), and of course the new KISS track "Nothing Can Keep Me From You" will be included as well. Acoustic "Hard Luck Woman" on Compilation CD
From: James Campbell
An live acoustic version of "Hard Luck Woman" featuring Paul Stanley on vocals is on a small label compilation called "Bootleg-Live On Air." The CD features different live performances and on-air performances from a wide range of artists including Days of The New, Monster Magnet, Eve 6, Everlast, Kid Rock, Second Coming, Korn, Megadeth, Sammy Hagar, The Flys, Candlebox, and Red Peters. "Hard Luck Woman" is apparently from the Bruce Kulick/Eric Singer lineup, but the liner notes doesn't mention anything about when the song was recorded or where (it just says live
acoustic performance). It is put out by a label called Restaurant Records in conjunction with several different radio stations (there are different copies of the album with the same cover and track listing but with a different radio station): WYSP, WLIR, WGRD, KISW, WAAF, WRIF, KRXQ, KUFO, WTPA, KEGL, WWDC, & WCKW. It's a very interesting CD, well worth picking up!!!

KISS Mention on E!
From: Shandy
E! aired a special called "Hollywood Private Eyes", which had a segment on KISS's Dodger stadium show, which featured comments from the band. A man named Bruce, who works security for KISS was explaining how he has to protect the band from anyone who may get out of control at the concerts. He also mentioned that since it was LA, other celebs would be attending, and there's a special section he seats them in. He has to guard their equiptment as well, especially guitar picks, because "they have a high-dollar value...especially on the internet." Paul Stanley said that security for the show would be high, because when you look like they do, you attract all kinds of people.
KISS Asylum & KAOL on the Radio
From: Kathy Labonte
On WRIF in Detroit Sunday night during the spotlight of the KAOL CDs (featuring the Detroit based band Lithium), KISS Asylum got a nice plug over the air. Tommy Rifai, the lead singer for Lithium, told the Detroit listening audience Sunday night to visit KISS Asylum for the latest info and reviews concerning the KAOL CDs and to find the appropriate hyperlink to head over the the actual MusiCare Online website for ordering of the discs. It was a nice mention that was no doubt heard by thousands in the Motor City area. The show, called Motor City Riffs, began with Lithium's versions of "Two Timer" from the KAOL 2 - Creatures of The Net CD and "Love Her All I Can" from the KAOL - Music From the Folder '99 CD. The KAOL project was discussed, mentioning the money raised for the Children's Hospital from the CDs, as well as where local Detroit KISS fans could pick one up - mainly the chain of record stores in the metro area called Harmony House. The show on WRIF marks the second time that KAOL has been featured on the Detroit Rock City airwaves. Last year, rival rock station KROCK spotlighted KAOL and Lithium as well as playing the Partridge Family style version of "Shout It Out Loud" mixed by Bob Ezrin and featured on the Creatures of The Net CD. Audio clips of that radio show are available on the MusiCare Online website and the latest WRIF show will be available for listening soon. Visit the MusiCare Online website to read the latest reviews of the KAOL CDs and order your own! www.musicareonline.org
KISS on VH-1
From: Terri Bey
On Monday night (4/5/99) KISS was on both VH-1's "Rock of Ages" and
"RockCandy" tv show. In the first show, "Rock of Ages" where the hosts have a
group of people rate videos, the host had a group of clowns in a circus rate the video for KISS' "Psycho Circus." In the show, "RockCandy," KISS was featured in a comparison piece, in sort of a haves vs the have nots, with a local band that used a broken down van to transport themselves from to gig to gig.

Chile Show Canceled
From: psycho_rios@entelchile.net
South American newspapers report that KISS will not be doing the Chile KISS show, as scheduled on April 13th. The reason stated is that KISS choose between one more show in Brazil or the Chile concert, and KISS prefered the Brazil show because the ticket sales were not so good (8,000 tickets bought), and the guaranteed of the Brazil show is that 25,000 people would be there.

KISS Mention in USA Today
From: USA TODAY via Rod
There is a small KISS mention in the Weekend/Life section of the Friday (April 2nd) USA Today newspaper. The mention is on page 3 in the "Entertainment Etc." section and says, " KISS OFF: KISS canceled concerts this week in Russia because of anti-Western sentiment in the wake of NATO's bombing of Yugoslavia. According to a posting on the KISS Asylum website, band members were sent a letter by the U.S. Embassy in Moscow saying that their safety could not be guaranteed."
"We Are One" #1 In Brazil
From: Joao Xavier
Just writting to tell you all that We Are One reached number 1 in the Top 40 hit parade here in Brazil! Since it was released, the song is getting a great feedback from the listeners, and it's been played very very often. KISS' songs are doing VERY well here, songs like "Psycho Circus", "We Are One", "You Wanted the Best", "Rock'n Roll All Night" are being played every day. Also, we can hear songs like "I Was Made for Loving You", "Do You Love Me", "Detroit Rock City", "Love Gun", "I Love it Loud", "Forever", etc. which are not played very often. Radio stations are already advertising the show, but there's something pretty strange with on radio in particular, they say: For the first time in Brazil, the original line-up, the four original members, etc. and they start to play pieces of "I Love it Loud" and "Lick it Up!" Hey, wait a minute... ;-)

Interviews with Peter and Gene in Belgium's Humo magazine
From: KISS Kollector Online
This week's issue of Belgium's Humo magazine features a three page KISS article,
including a 1997 live shot of Gene and a photo of the band posing at a 1998 press conference. The article basically consists of interviews with Peter and Gene. The
heading of the article translates into: "Gene Simmons: 'I slept with more than four
thousand women. That's the only reason I'm in KISS'." Below is most of Gene's interview. The highlights of Peter's interview will be available on KISS Kollector Online as soon as possible.
Gene: "KISS isn't more relevant or more profound than fireworks. We never sing about whales or rain forests, and we don't want to become goodwill ambassadors for Bosnia-Herzegovina. As far as I'm concerned, I'm only in KISS to get laid. I fucked
more than four thousand women." Do you have scouts who check out the venues
overhere first and adjust the show to these venues? "Coming to Europe is like going
back in time. You guys are behind in comparison to America. The electricity is worse
overhere, the venues aren't as big, the PA systems are too small, even the sandwiches and cokes are smaller than ours. We put less ice in our drinks. "See, less
again. Why don't you guys fill your coffee cups up 'till the rim?" Because we want to
hold it without burning our hands. "Let me ask you a question: do you want more or less money in your wallet?" Ehhm, more. "Me too. We are alike. Do you want a big or a small house?" ... "Ha, you have to think about that one. That's good, for someone has to pick up my garbage." I would be scared in a big house. "Yes, well, that's not the point. You want to be able to choose for yourself between a big house and small one." I guess so. "Everybody wants more. Do you want a better or a worse life?" Better. "Ha! I tell you, we are alike pal. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a chauvinist American. I'm not even American, I was born in Israel and I lived there until I was nine years old. But in America everything is better, it's a simple as that. When KISS comes to Europe, we have to keep it smaller. Your arenas are bad
because every few years they're being bombed. The European countries are always in a state of war with each other. It's very clear that you don't build big arenas, sooner
or later they're being bombed anyway. Get to the core of the problem, stop making
war." You guys always make war elsewhere. "Because we are one fucking country. Where do we have to make war? It's about time you guys really introduce that
European Community. Make sure that the euro becomes common use, start speaking one language. Doesn't matter which one, even if it were Japanese, but pick one fucking language! For America it would be better if the rest of the world stays stupid, but I want the best for you [grins]. And there's enough space for everybody. Everybody has to be their own leader, and enjoy it at the fullest." Could I ask a question again now? "Be my guest." When did you become your own leader? When did you realize, or force yourself, to believe yourself, that your truth is the only truth? "Good question. I'm an only child, no brothers, no sisters. And that helps, because there's noone around with a different truth. You don't have to make
compromises. You learn to plead for yourself, because you have to. When I got beaten up at school, I didn't have a brother to call upon." Couldn't you call upon your father or mother? "No! ...[thinks]... Okay, I recall perfectly when I became my own leader. My parents divorced when I was six. Then I started living with my mom. My mom worked at night, and I remember that one night - I was still six - I woke up and established that I was very much home alone. I was scared to death and started crying.
